The foyer of the Budapest Business School, Faculty of Finance and Accountancy at Buzogány utca 10-12 was recently inaugurated. The purpose of renovation was to provide the foyer with a fresh interior design and upgrade it in line with modern-day requirements. The wing of the building undergoing renovation was constructed on the basis of plans from 1964, and over subsequent decades it underwent modernization and reconstruction in several phases.
The design concept emerged as a complex, multi-layered task in line with the developer’s scheme. As part of the reconstruction, the foyer was given contemporary interior design features alongside the installation of an integrated cooling system as well as heating and smoke extraction. It was vital both for lecturers of the faculty and students that the modern, uncluttered interiors reflecting the technological standard of the 21st century should, if possible, also represent environmental awareness in some form.
In line with the strategic objectives of the university, the Faculty of Finance and Accountancy is committed to the widest possible extension of a responsible, environmentally conscious approach. Within this framework, a lichen wall forming the name of the university has been added to the renovated foyer, joining the green wall on the first floor created last year.
During implementation of the project, the extensive utilization of natural light and the maximum exploitation of energy efficiency aspects were given special attention. The reconstructed wing has multiple functions. These include the Student Services Department providing front office activities serving the needs of students, and a row of offices for lecturers. Thus, the reconstruction had to take into consideration the creation – with the redeveloped foyer – of a modern, sharp and impressive environment reflecting the spirit of the faculty and the university, and that its spaces were practical in everyday use.
