Introduction
Born in London, I initially studied business and went onto become a Customer Service Manager for what was the largest telecommunications company in the country. I gained valuable and extensive work experience in the field of management, where I also attended professional training courses. Realising that life could be more challenging and fulfilling than a 9-5 job, I embarked on a short teacher-training course in Cairo, Egypt, which I thoroughly enjoyed. At the same time the 'travel bug' hit me and I decided to take voluntary redundancy and signed up for a once-in-a-lifetime trip across Africa by truck. The adventure, which it really was, lasted almost 12 months and has, to date, never been equalled. I eventually returned (almost penniless) to start teaching and I also began a distant-learning course in English at the Open University. My teaching; mainly with the British Council, has taken me to Poland, Portugal, Bahrain and now Hungary. In addition, I have done proof-reading for magazines, made recordings in studios for radio and television and an interview for Deutsche Welle.
