Dear Student!

Did you know that regular physical activity has a beneficial effect, e.g. on our memory and ability to concentrate, which also affects learning? And that the BGE Sport Office offers you many opportunities related to health and exercise?

We would like to bring to your attention the following, constantly expanding options:

Opportunities

Gym

Our university has several gyms, waiting for students at the following locations.

For terms of use and questions, contact our colleagues:

BUEB FFA, Budapest, 1149 Buzogány u. 10-12.

(Attila Klinkó – klinko.attila@uni-bge.hu)

BUEB FCHT, Budapest, 1113 Laufenauer u. 1.

(Kádár Balázs - kadar.balazs@uni-bge.hu )

BGE FIMB, Budapest, 1165 Diósy Lajos u. 22-24.

(Péter Kertesz - kertesz.peter@uni-bge.hu)

PE lessons and trainings

At our university, we provide compulsory physical education courses for our students for two semesters, who can attend our classes even after completing them. The number and types of courses are constantly being expanded based on student feedback. Currently, our students can choose from over 30 different forms of exercise at the university level. In the recent period, as an innovation, our course offer has also increased with judo, wall climbing, yoga and cheerleading classes.

In each of our three faculties, a specially appointed instructor deals with our foreign students:

  • FFA - Zoltán Szörényi (szorenyi.zoltan@uni-bge.hu)
  • FIMB - Pál Péter Sajgál (sajgal.peter@uni-bge.hu)
  • FCHT - Brigitta Hulka (hulka.brigitta@uni-bge.hu)

Recreational sport

The Sports Office offers sports opportunities at the university regardless of pre-qualification. For our students, we regularly organize home sports tournaments (e.g.: basketball, table tennis, partisan bouncer, soccer cup), university sports day, as well as bike and walking tours and a ski camp. One of the most popular programs is our traditional night tour, the Moonlight Hike – Hike at Night, but the BGE Glide Night skating evening in December 2022 and 2023 was also very popular.

Competitive sport

Competition

We also support the participation of our student athletes and employees in various sports events with registration and equipment. Citizens of our university regularly represent our institution with excellent results in Budapest, national and international university championships.

Our athletes have achieved many outstanding national and international sports results in the past year, e.g. in water polo, swimming, taekwondo, judo, ice hockey or even fencing.

For domestic competitions contact Péter Pécsi: pecsi.peter@uni-bge.hu and for international competitions contact Barka Nikoletta barka.nikoletta@uni-bge.hu

Competition organization

The staff of the Sports Office of the Budapest University of Economics and Business participate not only in the field of competition, but also in the field of competition organization. In 2023, we organized the Alpine Ski and Snowboard MEFOB for the third time. For the first time in the history of Hungarian university championships, we organized cross and boardercross national championships.

In the 2023/2024 academic year, the BUEB Sport Office undertook the organization of several new MEFOBs, like the Rowing and Goalball MEFOB organized in the fall.

Elite sport

BGE Elite Athlete Mentoring Program

The goal of the Budapest University of Economics and Business elite sports program is for our athletes, who have achieved outstanding results both domestically and internationally, to achieve success in education in addition to the sports field. This creates the chance of another career in addition to sport.

The mentoring program is intended to facilitate the easier integration of athletes into higher education.

Its purpose, as part of the Dual Life Path model, is to help elite athletes coordinate their athletic and academic tasks. Reconciling being an athlete and the university requires special attention, which the Budapest University of Economics supports with the following:

  • individual study and exam schedule
  • sports scholarship
  • close cooperation with the relevant association
  • teacher and student mentors
  • support of university sports competitions

You can apply at the following interface, at the beginning of each semester: https://uni-bge.hu/hu/hallgatoi-fiok/bge-elsportolo-program-jelentkezes

For more information, contact Barka Nikoletta: barka.nikoletta@uni-bge.hu

Mentoring tasks

In the Elite Athlete Mentor Program, instructors and student mentors experienced in the field of sports support the everyday life of our elite athletes. The student mentors are prepared by instructors before the start of the semester, and then during the mentoring period they work together to ensure that the elite athletes are able to stand their ground at the university in addition to the sports field.

Duties of mentors include:

  • orientation in education and study areas,
  • presentation of scholarship opportunities,
  • introducing university cultural and sports programs,
  • continuous contact and cooperation with the teaching sports mentors,
  • facilitating integration

Would you like to be an elite athlete mentor? You can apply at the following interface at the beginning of each semester: https://uni-bge.hu/hu/hallgatoi-fiok/elsportoloi-mentorprogram
