The operation of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting (FFA) began with the establishment of the Pest Commercial Academy in 1857. The faculty functions as its legal successor and has since become the oldest financial and accounting education center in Hungary.
Education was suspended between 1959 and 1962, then resumed with renewed momentum under the name of Higher-level Financial and Accounting Vocational School. The institution underwent several name changes thereafter and, starting from the 1970/1971 academic year, continued its operation as the College of Finance and Accounting (FFA).
In 2000, the Budapest Business College (BGF) was established through the integration of three previously independent colleges. At that time, the College of Finance and Accounting, the College of International Management and Business, and the College of Commerce, Catering and Tourism were born.
Joining the ranks of the most prestigious institutions of higher education, our institution has been continuing its educational and research activities as the University of Economics since February 2025.
Over the past decades, the Faculty of Finance and Accounting (PSZK) has become one of the most popular faculties in Hungary. Our programs aim to produce highly qualified professionals who are capable of recognizing and understanding the economic and social issues in their environment, as well as developing effective solutions for them.
Our educational approach is based not only on imparting solid theoretical knowledge but also on delivering practical, market-relevant skills. We place particular emphasis on developing students’ abilities, with the main focus on problem-solving thinking, teamwork, analytical mindset, and effective communication. Additionally, we stress the importance of ethical behavior and cultivating adaptability to rapidly changing environments.
Besides education, we place great emphasis on supporting our students. Our mentoring system, along with community-building and talent development programs, contribute to ensuring that new students smoothly integrate into the faculty’s community.
