Action Learning – Active Community, Learning Organization
For several years, we have been consciously seeking methods that support collective learning, development, and joint reflection. One of the most successful of these approaches is Action Learning, which has proven effective not only in educational settings, but also in leadership and organizational development contexts.
What is Action Learning?
Action Learning is a reflective learning process based on real-life problems, in which participants work together to address situations that need solution. Learning takes place through questions and actions: group members support each other in exploring the problem, define possible solutions, and then implement concrete steps. The goal is not merely to solve the problem, but to initiate learning and development on both individual and group levels.
Effects of the method:
- increased confidence in taking independent action,
- space for experimentation and creative thinking,
- a more open culture of collaboration emerges,
- the coaching mindset deepens,
- and a learning organization begins to take shape.
Our Experience
In recent years, we have applied Action Learning in various types of groups: we have had leadership development programs and mixed employee groups with participants from across the broader BUEB community. According to participant feedback, the method has yielded tangible results: it increased confidence in independent action and strengthened motivation for development.
Where are we heading?
At the Faculty of Management, our goal is to continue using the tools of Action Learning, not only in development programs, but also in education. We believe that learning, development, and action are inseparable if we aim to build a vibrant, thoughtful, and mutually supportive community.
