After the change in model the rights to maintain our university are now taken over by the Foundation for the Budapest Business School. As the maintainer, the Foundation is responsible for the institutional and financial operations of the university, which operates as a state-recognised institution of higher education operating as a university, maintained and owned by the Foundation.
The Foundation is managed by the Board of Trustees, the members of which were selected and appointed by the Ministry for Innovation and Technology.
More information on the Foundation as well as the members of the Board of Trustees can be found here.
The exact definition of the division of power between the Board of Trustees and the Senate is regulated by the SZMR (Rules and Regulations.)
The maintainer approves the following, with the right of the Senate to state their opinion or give their consent: the budget of the institution, its Rules and Regulations, its annual report prepared on the basis of accounting regulations, the first chapter of its organisational and operational rules, its asset management plan and the establishment of a business organisation or acquisition of a share in a business organisation.
The Senate of the University continues to have the greatest authority in matters relating to education and research, and therefore decides on matters concerning courses, programmes and research activities, as well as quality assurance.
