Research Portfolio

The Faculty of Management’s primary objective is to contribute, through its research activities, to the understanding of economic and social challenges, as well as to the development of organizations.

In line with the Faculty’s strategic development directions, professional competence areas, and international ambitions, the main topics included in the research portfolio primarily focus on digital skills development, process improvement, customer experience management, as well as current issues in management and organizational development.

The aim of these topics is to produce scientifically grounded results that can also be utilized in practice.

The research portfolio supports the establishment of national and international research collaborations and provides opportunities for the implementation of projects that may also serve as a basis for international comparisons, joint research with foreign partners, or international publication activities.

The published research topics support the preparation and implementation of research projects and international research proposals, while also serving as a basis for defining topics for scientific student papers (TDK), bachelor’s theses, and master’s theses.

Employees in the Changing World of Work

The world of work is undergoing significant transformation: alongside the spread of digitalisation and artificial intelligence, career paths, expectations related to work and learning, and the relationship between employees and organisations are also changing. In our research project, Employees in the Changing World of Work, we examine how Hungarian employees experience these changes. The study focuses, among other areas, on the meaning of work and careers, opportunities for learning and development, the use of technology and artificial intelligence, and employee participation and workplace relationships. We also examine the extent to which employees experience their work as meaningful, their experiences of inclusion, organisational justice, trust and support, and the professional and ethical values they associate with work. The research is based on a survey conducted in December 2025 with a representative sample of 1,000 employees in Hungary. The dataset allows us to explore the transformation of work from multiple perspectives and through the experiences of different groups of employees.

The Relationship Between Everyday Decision-Making Biases and the Process Approach

The Department of Process Management investigates how structured, process-oriented thinking influences the quality of everyday and workplace decisions. The research focuses on whether planning discipline, systematic task structuring, data-driven thinking and a systems perspective can reduce common decision-making biases, such as the planning fallacy, anchoring, overconfidence and the sunk cost fallacy. The Process Thinking Bias Shield (PTBS) framework also explores the mediating role of digital competence and formal work and decision-support tools, as well as the influence of individual differences, including personality and cognitive reflectiveness. The findings may contribute to a better understanding of how process-oriented practices can support more informed and less biased decision-making at both individual and organisational levels.

Customer Experience and Digital Innovation Among Hungarian SMEs

Research conducted by the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation examines how Hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) apply customer experience management tools and the digital solutions that support them. The goal of the research is to explore the maturity, innovation opportunities, and challenges of customer experience management, as well as to understand how customer-centric developments contribute to the competitiveness of SMEs. The results support the department’s research and publication activities and are also integrated into practice-oriented education.
