Call for Applications: Long-term Mobility for the Spring Semester 26/27

Pannónia Scholarship Programme – Second Call for Applications for Long-term Mobility Programme for the Spring Semester of the 2026/27 Academic Year

The Office for International Relations of the Budapest University of Economics and Business (BGE) is pleased to announce a Call for Applications for study abroad for a semester within the framework of the Pannónia Scholarship Programme.

I. About the Programme

The aim of the study mobility is to provide students with the opportunity to gain international academic, professional, linguistic, and cultural experience at one of BGE’s partner institutions.

Participation in the programme contributes to students’:

  • academic progress,
  • professional development, and
  • personal and intercultural competencies.

Within the framework of the program, successful applicants:

  • may pursue their studies at the host institution free of tuition fees,
  • and receive a subsistence grant under the Pannónia Scholarship Programme.

Please note that students participating in the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme are unfortunately not eligible due to restrictions on double financing.

Students may participate in mobility activities for a total period of up to 12 months per study cycle, irrespective of the number and type of mobility activities, subject to the rules of the Pannónia Scholarship Programme.

Under this Call for Applications, the maximum duration of a study mobility period at one of BGE’s partner institutions is one semester. The mobility period awarded under this Call may not be extended beyond the period specified in the Grant Agreement, unless otherwise permitted under the applicable programme rules and University regulations.

II. Conditions of Participation and Important Information

Participation in the application process is subject to the following conditions:

  1. Applicants must have an active student status at BGE and must be enrolled to a degree programme during the mobility period.
  2. Applicants must have completed at least one semester of studies prior to the application.
  3. Applicants must have at least B2 level proficiency in the language(s) of instruction or be enrolled in a foreign-language program. In the absence of an official language certificate, a certificate issued by BGE’s Centre for Foreign Languages and Language Exams is also acceptable.

Important note: For some partner institutions, knowledge of multiple languages or specific types of language certificates may be required; further details can be found in the list of available partner institutions and in the application system.

III. Important restrictions

Mobility cannot be undertaken during the semester of graduation, as an active student status required during the whole mobility period.

If a student is successfully selected in two consecutive application cycles, but withdraws after nomination on both occasions, they may only apply again after skipping one full application cycle.

IV. How and when to apply?

Applications for the study abroad programme under the Pannónia Scholarship Programme must be submitted through BGE’s online application system: https://exchange.uni-bge.hu/

Please note, applications that were only saved cannot be accepted.

Application deadline: 19 October 2026 23:59 CET

V. Required documents

Mandatory documents to be uploaded (to the corresponding task) before submitting your application:

  • Registry Record (Törzslap) – downloaded from Neptun
  • Proof of language proficiency (minimum B2) in the language(s) of instruction of the selected partner institution(s)
  • Residence Permit – in case of foreign students
  • Motivation letter

Additional documents can be for example (if applicable):

  • Proof of TDK/OTDK results or other national or international academic competition achievements (1st–3rd place or special award)
  • Proof of other outstanding activities (scientific, sports, artistic, voluntary, or community activities)
  • Proof of scientific publications or conference presentations
  • Proof of university community and professional engagement (e.g. Student Demonstrator or intern at BGE, BEE Mentor, Student Ambassador, Student Union officer, or officer/member of a College for Advanced Studies)
  • Proof of participation in the Corporate or Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program
  • Proof of additional or higher-level language proficiency
  • Letter(s) of recommendation from BGE professors

Due to the short preparation period, we kindly ask for strong cooperation from all selected participants regarding the administrative process. Please apply only if you are able to keep the required deadlines and respond promptly during the organisation period, there is no possibility for submitting missing documents or corrections. We can only accept and evaluate applications that are submitted by the deadline, in accordance with the guidelines, and with all required documents fully completed.

VI. Selection criteria

The evaluation of applications is based on the students’ cumulative adjusted credit index (KKKI). As significant differences may occur between study programmes and cohorts due to variations in academic curricula, and in order to ensure equal treatment of applicants, the ranking of KKKI values is carried out separately for each study programme and cohort. Accordingly, applicants within the same programme and cohort are divided into 60 categories proportionally to the number of applicants (number of applicants / 60). Students in the first category receive 60 points, students in the second category receive 59 points, and so on. Any additional points defined in the present Call for Applications are added to this calculated score.

In the event that two or more applicants receive the same score, further ranking between them is only required if the number of eligible applications exceeds the number of students who can be supported within the available quota or budget. In such cases, the applicants’ exact KKKI values are taken into account. If these are also identical, the individual points awarded for additional activities are considered. If a tie still remains, the final ranking will be determined based on the qualitative evaluation of the motivation letters.

The scholarships will be awarded based on the achieved scores and the available budget.

Applicants will be notified of their application results via the DreamApply system.

VII. Right to appeal

Applicants may appeal against the University’s decision on their application within fifteen (15) days of receiving notification of the decision or, if no notification is provided, of becoming aware of it, in accordance with Section 57 of Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education and Sections 38–39 of BGE’s Student Requirements Regulations (HKR).

The appeal must be addressed to the University’s Review Committee (Felülbírálati Bizottság). It may be submitted electronically through the designated interface in Neptun, or on paper in person or by post, in accordance with Section 39 of the HKR.

The appeal should identify the applicant and the decision being challenged, explain the grounds for the appeal, and include any supporting documents.

VIII. Important information before applying

Before submitting your application, we strongly recommend that you carefully review the followings:

  • the course list of the eligible partner (host) institution on their official website,
  • the language(s) of instruction and language certificate requirements,
  • and the expected living costs in the host country and city.

IX. Where can I go?

The mobility can be carried out at BGE’s partner institutions.

The list of currently available institutions is available at the bottom of the webpage.

X. Important considerations

Choosing the appropriate host institution is the student's responsibility, based on the course list and academic relevance.

  • Applicants must have at least B2 level proficiency in the language(s) of instruction at the chosen institution(s), which can be demonstrated by an official language exam or a document issued by the BGE Centre for Foreign Languages and Language Exams (issued within one year of the application is accepted).
  • Applicant may indicate up to 3 preferred host institutions in order of preference. The first-choice institution will be considered first. If no place is available there, the second-choice institution will be considered, followed by the third-choice institution if no place is available at the second. The final placement depends on the order of preference and the available places.
  • In addition to selecting specific partner institutions, applicants may also indicate a so-called "Joker" Institution, expressing their willingness to participate in the mobility programme at any suitable partner institution aligned with their field of study.

XI. Professional and administrative conditions of mobility

Before applying, please consider carefully all the following conditions:

  1. Prior to the start of the mobility, the signing of a Grant Agreement is mandatory.
  2. A Learning Agreement (study plan) must be prepared before the start of the mobility; however, it may be modified after arrival to the host institution (within 5 weeks from the start of the mobility).
  3. The studies undertaken abroad must be relevant to the student’s field of study and fit into their academic programme.
  4. Upon completion of the mobility, the host institution issues official certificates (Transcript of Records and Certificate of Attendance), the submission of which is mandatory for the closure of the mobility period and the application.
  5. Students must complete at least 15 ECTS credits at the host institution.
  6. Students must maintain an active student status at BGE during the mobility period, which requires registration for at least one course at the sending university (the requirements of the said course may be fulfilled by an automatically approved exceptional study schedule).
  7. BGE ensures full recognition of studies completed abroad provided they are included in the approved Learning Agreement.
