Study abroad
Study abroad

We hope that you are definitely planning to spend one or two semesters at a foreign university. If you haven’t thought about this yet, we strongly recommend that you consider this option. According to our general experience, participation in studies abroad has benefits in the labour market as well as  enriches you with lifelong experiences.

Our curriculum, introduced in 2017, includes a so-called “mobility window”. It is aimed at defining at least one semester when you can take part in study abroad, without extending the whole period of your studies. In the curriculum, we specify the subjects which will enable you to enrol into a foreign university and avoid the need to extend your studies.

In addition to the semester(s) of the mobility window, you can take part in study abroad in any other semester, although this may require a little more administration. In these cases, you can convert all subjects completed abroad into credits one by one. We will support you with your term abroad, with an acknowledgement that such training requires more flexible rules than the general ones.

Participation in study abroad is supported by several scholarship programs. The best known of these are the EU-funded Erasmus and Campus Mundi scholarships, which provide training or internships in many countries around the world. In addition, the BUEB provides additional scholarships to some Asian countries, under special agreements, and supports travel with certain additional scholarships.

As a general rule, a student participating in a scholarship program is not required to pay tuition fee at a foreign university. Scholarships cover most of the travel and living expenses. However, a BUEB outgoing student is not exempt from paying the home university tuition fee (if he is self-financing). The reason for this is that scholarship programs are always exchange-based, i.e. students “come” to us “in exchange” for outgoing students, who also pay their tuition fees at their home institution. Scholarship programs do not generate revenue for the BUEB.

We regularly inform our students about scholarship programs through Neptun messages and information posted on the website. In addition, there is a Mobility Office in each faculty, which is constantly available to students.
