BBU pays attention to its students outside of academic hours as well. We aim for the social events associated with university life, such as BBU Day, Freshmen Camp, and Freshmen Ball, to be safe. Therefore, starting in 2023, we have implemented a harm reduction program at major student events in collaboration with our civil partner, the Tiszta Jövőért Foundation. Volunteers from the Foundation participate in these events, providing participants with vitamin water, glucose, snacks, and information about safe partying. They monitor the partygoers, offer assistance if someone feels unwell, and provide party packs and other informational materials.
The goal of harm reduction is not to eliminate alcohol consumption from the events but rather to support responsible decision-making and maintain a safe environment.
If you feel uncertain or scared during your nighttime walk home, you can call the Take Me Home by Phone, operated independently by civilians, at the toll-free number +36 80 442 422. They are available Monday to Saturday from 10 PM to 4 AM and on Sundays from 10 PM to 1 AM.
