The Month of Community: What Are You Dependent On?

Many people think that only drugs, alcohol, smoking, or gambling can cause addiction. Of course, some know that relationship addiction also exists. In reality, in today’s complex world, we are all dependent on something.

This fall, we will once again hold the Month of Community at BUEB, and the theme will be Our Dependencies. It will cover not only drugs and alcohol, but also our environmental, social, and economic dependencies.

National University Green Footprint Roadshow

As part of the Month of Community, we are preparing a special program focused on our digital dependencies. The goal of the roadshow is to provide practical and comprehensive knowledge about sustainability and help us create an enjoyable and sustainable lifestyle for the long term. During the 2-hour workshop, we will host a forum to explore what a carbon footprint is and how digital dependency affects us.

In the interactive sessions, we will demonstrate the impact of digitalization on our daily lives, particularly the carbon emissions associated with the internet and smart devices, and explore ways to reduce our emissions.

Date: October 29, 5-7 PM
Location: BUEB UniZone (Bagolyvár utca 6-10.)

Join us and be part of shaping a sustainable future! Sign up now using the link below, and participate in the discussion as we seek solutions together:

What to Expect?

A conversation about sustainability:
In the first part, participants will engage in a discussion about sustainability, individual responsibility, and finding ways out of our digital dependency. Together, we will explore the ecological footprint of our everyday actions and search for alternative solutions.

The carbon footprint of digital devices:
The second part focuses on the carbon footprint of digital devices. Although the emissions of digital devices are still not widely known, there is a rapidly growing trend in this area. By 2025, smart devices could account for nearly 4% of our global carbon footprint, which is a significant figure. We will take a detailed look at how the university community, as users of digital devices, can play a role in reducing emissions.

Why Should You Attend?

Our aim is not to create guilt or shame. Instead, we aim to foster a willingness to act and strengthen community-building, showing what concrete steps we can take at both individual and community levels to promote sustainability.

We warmly welcome all university members to join us in working together for a sustainable future!

BUEB Film Club: FOMO

As part of the Month of Community, we invite you to join us on November 6 at 5:00 PM at UniZone for the next screening of the BUEB Film Club. Our upcoming film is FOMO – Share and Rule. After the screening, we’ll have an exciting discussion with our university’s psychologist, Ferenc Végh, to reflect on the movie.

You’re welcome to bring a guest, which you can indicate during registration. However, due to the theme of the film, only those aged 16 and over can attend this Film Club session.

What is the movie about?

If you're not online, do you even exist? Gergő, a high school student, and his friends—the members of the Wolfpack—are driven by three things... and making sure the videos of these experiences get as many views as possible on their online channel. As their challenge videos become increasingly extreme, things take a dark turn at a house party when Lilla becomes the prey of the boy gang. In just one night, the seemingly stable world of Budapest’s youth is turned upside down.
