Language Learning Opportunities

Continuous practice of foreign languages helps you maintain and further develop your language skills. That’s why at BGE we offer courses in all six languages featured in the school-leaving exam (English, German, French, Italian, Russian and Spanish) — both as compulsory language subjects and as electives.

If you already have confident English language skills, you can also take English-language professional courses in our full-time bachelor’s programs, which will further develop your language competencies. You can find the list of English-language professional courses recommended for enrollment in the fall semester (full-time) HERE.

You can find further information about language requirements and opportunities on the website of the Language and Language Examination Center: HERE

Mobility Opportunities for First-Year Students

Study or gain professional experience abroad!

Long-Term Study Mobility

If you’d like to spend a semester abroad, you can study at one of our partner institutions for 5-6 months. The courses you complete there — with prior approval — can be credited toward your studies at BGE.

Key features:

  • a one-semester (5-6 month) partial training period,
  • available in bachelor’s, master’s, undivided and doctoral programs,
  • the application is typically announced at the beginning of the spring semester.

Main application requirements:

  • active BGE student status,
  • adequate academic progress,
  • at least B2-level English proficiency (and, if required, knowledge of the host institution’s language of instruction),
  • the chosen courses must align with your studies,
  • completion of at least 15 ECTS credits during the mobility period.

You can find the detailed application requirements and current calls HERE.

Double Degree Program

Would you like to earn two degrees at once?

Within the double degree program, you can spend two semesters at one of our partner institutions. The courses you complete abroad count toward your studies at BGE, and upon successful completion, you can obtain a degree from both BGE and the partner institution.

You can read about the programs and available partner institutions HERE.

Short-Term Mobility Opportunities

If you don’t want to spend a full semester abroad, you can also apply for shorter programs. These programs typically last 2-30 days.

Examples include:

  • study trips,
  • summer universities,
  • intensive international courses,
  • conference participation (giving a presentation),
  • research mobility.

In bachelor’s, undivided and higher education vocational training programs, you can apply after completing one semester; in master’s and doctoral programs, you can apply from the first semester onward.

Main application requirements:

  • active BGE student status,
  • adequate academic progress,
  • at least B2-level English proficiency (and, if required, knowledge of the host institution’s language of instruction),
  • the chosen courses must align with your studies.

You can find the detailed information and current opportunities HERE.

Professional Internship Abroad

You can also complete your mandatory professional internship abroad.

This can be a particularly good opportunity for senior students as the internship period approaches. During an internship abroad, you can gain international professional experience while also fulfilling the requirements of your program.

Sports Opportunities and Physical Education

Sport is an important part of student life at BGE. In our full-time bachelor’s programs, physical education is a compulsory subject for two semesters, and we also offer numerous additional sports opportunities for all our students.

You can currently choose from nearly 30 different types of physical activity, and you can also take part in recreational and amateur competitive sports programs, as well as BGE’s Elite Athlete Program.

More details on the Sports Office website: HERE

Scholarship Opportunities

At BGE, we believe that every ambitious young person should be given the opportunity to participate in higher education, so we also help create the necessary support background for this. Some of the scholarships are funded from BGE’s own revenues, so that students who are not eligible for state funding can also receive support, and so that fewer students are forced — often to the detriment of their studies — to work.

You can find the comprehensive list of our scholarship programs HERE.

Student Life at BGE

University years are not only about studying, but also about having fun and shared experiences. The University also organizes community programs and events for students, which offer opportunities for community building beyond classes. From the annual group ice-skating and ski camp, through events supporting the strengthening of international relations within the university, to volunteer programs. Students interested in sports can join BGE’s sports teams, while those who are more drawn to science and self-development can join the specialized colleges, or the Scientific Students’ Association’s activities. In addition, numerous independent student organizations are waiting for new members.

Mental Health/Psychological Counseling

Everyone can go through more difficult periods from time to time during their university years. If you feel a supportive conversation would help, you can turn to our specialists at our free mental health counseling service in a safe, accepting environment — they will help you find the best solutions and resources for you.

Who can use this service?

  • Available free of charge to every BGE student with active student status.
  • Up to 6 counseling sessions can be used per academic year.
  • Any BGE student can apply, regardless of faculty.
  • When choosing a specialist, please avoid dual relationships: do not select a counselor who has been your instructor or whom you know personally.

Mentor Programs

BGE Corporate Mentor Program

If you’d like to not only study but also get a practical taste of how the corporate world works, the BGE Corporate Mentor Program is for you. During the program, you can work together with a middle or senior manager mentor for 5 months, while building connections, discovering new perspectives, and getting closer to the world of the labor market. Although the program is primarily intended for senior students, first-year students are regularly admitted too, so it’s definitely worth getting to know the program.
