Double Degree Programmes at the Budapest University of Economics and Business
Double Degree Programmes at the Budapest University of Economics and Business

The Double Degree (DD) programmes at the Budapest University of Economics and Business offer students the opportunity to obtain two full degrees from two different universities within the duration of one study programme. By completing part of their studies at a partner institution abroad, students gain valuable international experience, broaden their academic perspective and significantly improve their career opportunities.

A key advantage of the Double Degree programme is that students do not need additional semesters to earn the second degree. The programme is designed in a way that courses completed at one institution are recognised by the other, allowing students to meet the requirements of both degrees simultaneously.

Double Degree opportunities are available at both Bachelor’s (BSc) and Master’s (MSc) level, with different partner universities and structures.

Double Degree at Bachelor’s Level (BSc)

At Bachelor’s level, Double Degree programmes are available in several BUEB programmes, most notably within International Business and Economics related fields.

Key characteristics:

  • The total duration of the International Economics Bachelor’s programme is 8 semesters (240 credits), including internships.
  • Students usually participate in the Double Degree during their 2nd or 3rd academic year.
  • Participants must complete two consecutive semesters abroad at a partner university.
  • Upon successful completion, students receive two full Bachelor’s degrees.
  • All tuition fees must be paid according to the BUEB fee structure throughout the entire programme, including the period spent abroad.

Current BSc partner universities include:

  • Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Germany) - International Economics and Business
  • Shih Chien University (Taiwan) - International Economics and Business
  • Thomas More University (Belgium) - International Economics and Business
  • Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences (Germany) - International Economics and Business
  • Karel de Grote University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Belgium) - International Economics and Business
  • University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Campus Steyr – Commerce and Marketing
  • UCLL University of Applied Sciences (Belgium) – Business Administration and Management
  • Hochschule Hof (Germany) - Commerce and Marketing
  • Kempten University of Applied Sciences (Germany) - Commerce and Marketing
  • University of Oviedo (Spain) - Commerce and Marketing

Double Degree at Master’s Level (MSc)

At Master’s level, the Double Degree option is currently available exclusively within the International Economics and Business MSc programme. As a result, the programme operates with two strategic partner universities:

  • University of Augsburg
  • University of Stirling

The structure of the MSc Double Degree programme is the following:

  • 2nd semester: study period at the University of Augsburg (Germany),
  • 4th semester: study period at the University of Stirling (Scotland), with the possibility of staying longer for thesis completion.

Only one semester abroad is required at Master’s level, making the MSc Double Degree shorter and more flexible compared to the Bachelor’s structure.

All tuition fees must be paid according to the BUEB fee structure throughout the entire programme, including the period spent abroad.
