Introduction
My name is Julianna Farkas, I have received my Hungarian-Latin teacher diploma at the ELTE Faculty of Humanities in 1988.
During the last year of my education I served as an assistant secondary teacher at the Leővey Klára High School in Budapest. After graduation, I worked for two years at the Eötvös College of Eötvös Loránd University in 1988, then as an external contributor at the Petőfi Literary Museum. My work mostly consisted of collecting and processing materials mostly from the 19th century.
Since 1996 I have been working at the Pedagogical Institute of the Faculty of Commerce, Catering and Tourism of the Budapest Business School. I am primarily responsible for the theoretical subjects of pedagogy, the different concepts of education and the history of Education.
I also had the chance to lead several practical seminars in the field of andragogy, sociology, philosophy, communication and elocution.
For almost 10 years I have been organizing numerous field trips and practical research opportunities for students. Under the Andragogy Department, I also taught pedagogics, civilizational studies, sociology and the history of philosophy.
Since 2017 I am the one responsible for the Community Organizations department and I also started to teach cultural history and local society studies.
In 1998, I have successfully passed the entrance examinations of the Doctoral School of Educational Sciences at ELTE. Seven years later in 2005 after submitting my dissertation entitled "Identity and Value Differences in Secular and Parochial Schools in Secondary Education” I could graduate and receive "summa cum laude” grade. Later, my dissertation work was published as a book by the Balassi Publisher.
Between 2006 and 2015, I served as vice science dean as well as the head of the institute. My responsibilities included the organization of grand scale events, organizing the scientific life of the faculty (TDK, Student Competitions, R&D, Agora, Researchers Forum, Economist Club, etc.) and the coordination of institutional work.
For many years I have been a member of the BGF Quality Assurance Committee (head of the Faculty Quality Assurance Committee), the Scientific Council, the Master Board, and the Dean of the Faculty. (I participated in auditor training in 2008 and 2011, I passed the exams successfully both times).
Officially a collage professor since 2010, climbing the institutional ladder, currently I serve as the head of Department of Pedagogy under the Institute of Social Sciences and Pedagogy, Budapest Business School – University of Applied Sciences.
In 2017, I received a one month scholarship to Japan from the Eastern Business Academy to study the Japanese higher education System.
In 2019, I received the Excellent Instructor Award.
Among others I am a member of the Committee on Public Education, the National Association of Teacher Training and the Teacher Training and Humanities Committee of the Hungarian Rectors' Conference.
