The Department of Tourism teaches the courses of tourism program at the faculty.

Bachelor's Programme 

Bachelor's Programme in Tourism and Catering - general professional courses related to tourism, hotel management, tourism geography, as well as the following specialisations: 

  • Tourism and hotels (until 2017) 
  • Travel and event organisation (from 2017) 
  • Health, sports, and ecotourism (from 2017) 
  • Tourism development and regional management (from 2017) 
  • European tourism (from 2017, only in English).

Doctoral Program

One of our colleagues is a core member and lecturer at the Doctoral School of Entrepreneurship and Business, and several of our colleagues are involved in the work of the Doctoral School as consultants.

Tourism destination management

Representing the diversity of tourism professions, our colleagues come from a wide range of scientific and professional backgrounds. The fields represented in our research and teaching include economics, management, regional, geographical, social sciences, and the humanities. Thanks to this diversity, tourism is taught in a modern and multidisciplinary approach. 

Some of our instructors pursue a classical academic career, enriching the international and domestic literature on tourism with valuable publications. Other faculty members have joined the teaching profession after or in parallel with a significant professional career, ensuring a decisive presence of practical professional knowledge in the courses taught by the department.

  • Crisis phenomena in tourism (overtourism, health and safety crises) 
  • Intergenerational interactions in tourism 
  • Characteristics of festival tourism 
  • The museum as a promise of experience in the 21st century, the role of museums in tourism today 
  • The potential in folk houses for tourism.

The Department of Tourism's extensive portfolio of professional contacts includes major hotel companies, tour operators, event and conference organisers, spas, cultural institutions, and many local governments. The Department participates as an associate member or permanent guest in the work of professional organisations representing businesses in the sector (Association of Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants, Association of Hungarian Travel Agencies, National Association of Tourism and Hospitality Employers, Hungarian Baths Association, Association of Hungarian Event Organisers and Service Providers). It also has long-term partnerships with some major foreign companies that provide internships for students (e.g., Broadmoor Destination Resort in Colorado Springs, USA).
