Office of Languages for Specific Purposes at FCHT
Office of Languages for Specific Purposes at FCHT

The primary task of the Office of Languages for Specific Purposes at FCHT is to teach languages for specific purposes. At our faculty, students of all programs can take language courses as a compulsory or an optional subject, depending on their curriculum.

Information on language courses for students enrolled after July 2024

Languages taught:

English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Hungarian as a foreign language

Teaching Business English

The aim of our Office’s is to provide students practical knowledge; therefore, language courses are closely related to professional training. In the classroom, we provide skills-based language teaching, developing all four language skills (speaking, listening comprehension, reading, writing). In addition to language skills, we also develop skills that are advantageous in the labour market (e.g., cooperative, and digital skills, autonomous learning skills).

We are constantly updating our educational material; our instructors regularly use information and communication technologies (ICT) and strive for methodological innovation.

The professional language courses also prepare students for the professional language exams.

Skills development courses

Our Office’s offers the following skills development courses:

  • presentation skills development (in Hungarian, English and German)
  • intercultural communication (in English and German)
  • international negotiation techniques (in Hungarian, English and German)
  • career development (in English and German)
  • business communication (in English)

Professional courses

Our instructors participate in the teaching of certain professional courses:

  • target country studies (in Hungarian or the language of the target countries)
  • research methodology (in Hungarian and English)
Scientific activity

Most of our lecturers have scientific degrees (PhD) in the fields of education, language pedagogy and linguistics, but several other disciplines (literature, history, etc.) are also among the research areas of our lecturers.
