Introduction

My name is Kornélia Kiss (PhD), I joined the Budapest University of Economics and Business Faculty of Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism team in 2022 as the head of Department of Tourism. I obtained my diploma in economics at the Budapest University of Economics and Public Administration (Hungary) majoring in marketing and tourism, my scientific degree at the György Enyedi Doctoral School of Regional Sciences of Szent István University (Hungary). I started my professional career at the tourism and hospitality consulting companies LT Consorg and Horwath Consulting. As an employee of the Hungarian National Tourist Office, I worked in positions related to research and product management: as a senior researcher, later as research director, and finally as manager in charge of research and product development and communication. The world of education has always attracted me. I started my higher education activities during my university years as a demonstrator, and after obtaining my diploma, I continued as a lecturer. As the head of the Department of Tourism at Budapest Business School Faculty of Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism, I would like to create a dynamic and ambitious, professionally and personally good community of teachers, doctoral students and students, closely cooperating with the tourism industry. A community in which we, the department's staff, and the tourism professionals involved in the activities of our department as teachers, find their place by mutually recognizing each other's work, supporting each other, and contributing to each other's development. A community in which Four students can acquire knowledge in an experiential way, through exciting and diverse, sometimes "sharp" projects realized in cooperation with the industry partners. A community that builds itself, where our students will at best be demonstrators, then doctoral students, then instructors. I would like the students who graduated from us to find their place in this community and would like to return to their alma mater. I consider talent management a kind of mission. I am involved in the work of the (National) Scientific Student Conference as mentor, reviewer, or member of the jury. I am currently supervisor or co-supervisor of two doctoral students. I acted as editor (2000-2004), and editor-in-chief (2004-2010) of the scientific journal Turizmus Bulletin. I have been participating as a member of the Sports, Tourism and Hospitality Committee of the Hungarikum Committee since 2019, and the Hungarian Accreditation Committee since 2020.
