Dr. Gabriella Soós, research fellow at BBU FCHT, visited J. Selye University in Slovakia during the Week of Science and Technology in November. She attended the workshop “Food allergy and food intolerance: misconceptions and evidence” and, in an informal talk with students and colleagues interested in the topic, together with local lecturers, she presented the most important regulations and specific features related to food allergens and the good practices of companies in both countries. The audience included a number of people who were affected by this issue and who shared their own consumer experiences. The event also succeeded in dispelling some misconceptions for those who are not personally affected, and in generating empathy for intolerances and food allergies, which pose a burden on health as well as financial and psychological resources.
