Introduction
Katalin Mérő started her career as a statistician, then continued as a researcher. In the wake of the establishment of the two-tier banking system, between 1990 and 2010, she worked in different management positions at the Commercial and Credit Bank, at the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (the Hungarian Central Bank) and at Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority. Since 2010 she has been teaching and researching. Since 2015 she has been an associate professor at BUEB. She obtained her PhD in 2005 from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and her habilitation from the University of Szeged in 2018. From 2011 to 2021 she was a member of the Joint Board of Appeal of European Supervisory Authorities.
