The Department of Applied Quantitative Methods provides students with the essential mathematical, statistical and computer science skills required in Finance and Accounting, Business and Administration and Management, Human Resources, and Business Information Technology. The Department is also involved in the teaching of mathematical and computer science subjects in Business Information Technology programmes. The Department is actively pursuing various educational projects, including the development of electronic teaching materials.

The teaching staff of the Department includes mathematicians, teachers of mathematics and computer science, economists, and teachers of economics, many of whom have PhDs and decades of teaching experience. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, the senior lecturers are also involved in research and research management.
The research activities of the department cover a wide range of areas, including network security, decision theory, game theory, optimisation modelling, mathematical didactics, analysis of financial culture, and studies on small and medium-sized enterprises, and studies of image, awareness, and motivation. The digitisation of assessment is implemented through the Möbius framework for several mathematical subjects.
The department's staff regularly participate in international conferences, including events such as EDEN, IFCS, and MIDK conferences. With the aim of starting a tradition, the 1st László Csernyák Conference was organised, named in honour of our former head of department.
