How to apply?

A degree from Budapest University of Economics and Business is an investment in your future. We will guide you through the application process and we are here to help along the way.

Please note that the admission period for the academic year 2026/2027 begins in November 2025.

General Admission Requirements and Evaluation

  • During the application process, the Admission Team will take into account several factors, including the applicant’s age, GPA, study gaps, and relevant experiences such as work, internships, volunteering, or extracurricular activities.
  • Particular attention is given to grades in key subjects, such as Mathematics, English, and business-related courses, as outstanding results in these areas represent a competitive advantage.
  • For admission to our Master’s programmes, a relevant prior qualification (Bachelor’s degree) is required. The university will review applicants’ transcripts in detail, assessing completed subjects and grades from each semester. Only candidates who have successfully completed the necessary prerequisite subjects (e.g., economics, business, tourism, or marketing, depending on the chosen programme) during their Bachelor’s studies will be eligible for admission.
  • In addition, the Admission Team will evaluate the applicant’s overall academic performance to ensure suitability for the programme.

Apply online in 7 easy steps

Click on each step for further details!

Step 1. Choose your program

The first step is to choose a programme that suits you the best. We have bachelor’s, master’s, PhD, double degree and summer school programmes.

Please note that spring intake is not offered for our English-language programmes.

Step 2. Collect the necessary documents

Once you have chosen a programme, you must upload the necessary documents to your online application profile. Apart from the original copies of your documents, the official English translations should also be uploaded, if the requested documents were originally not issued in English. While apostilled documents are not required, translations must include the translator’s stamp and appropriate signatures.

Please note that we only accept official transcripts issued by the applicant’s high school or university. In all cases, the transcript must include the official stamp and signature of the relevant department. In certain cases, a document validity check may be conducted during the application process.

For Bachelor’s programmes you need the following documents:

  • copy of your high-school diploma with the final exam results
  • copy of your high-school transcripts (indicating your grades from each high school year)
  • copy of the photo page of your passport

For Master’s programmes you need the following documents:

  • copy of your Bachelor’s degree
  • copy of your transcript (indicating grades from each semester)
  • copy of the photo page of your passport

For the PhD programme you need the following documents:

  • copy of your Master’s degree
  • copy of your transcript (indicating grades from each semester)
  • copy of the photo page of your passport
Step 3. Submit your application

You can submit your application online here.

Submitting an application is super easy thanks to our online system. You just need to create a profile, fill out the application form and upload the necessary documents.

To finalise your application, please make sure you hit the ‘submit’ button.

Step 4: Wait for our feedback

After we have received your application, we will check your documents and let you know what further steps will be needed.

If you have any questions, you can contact us at admission@uni-bge.hu!

Step 5: Prepare for the online interview

If you meet the admission requirements, you will be invited to an online interview.

Main focus of the interview:

  • Academic background
  • English skills (required level: B2)
  • Programme-specific motivation
  • Relevant experiences (e.g. internships, volunteering, work)
  • Future plans
  • Relevant skills
  • Motivation to study in Budapest.

The English proficiency of applicants will be evaluated during the interview.

Applicants will receive detailed technical instructions regarding the format and timing of the online interview in advance of the scheduled date. Depending on the chosen programme and individual factors, applicants will be invited to either a Teams interview or a pre-recorded interview.

Step 6: Pay the tuition fee

Following the interview, your application will be reviewed by the Admission Team, giving careful consideration to both the submitted documentation and your interview performance. If you are accepted, you will receive our so-called Conditional Acceptance Letter. Please follow the instructions outlined in this document to finalise your acceptance and complete the tuition fee payment for the first two semesters.

Step 7. Receive your Final Acceptance Letter

After we have received the necessary payment, we will send you your Final Acceptance Letter which will be one of the documents necessary for your visa application.

Students themselves are responsible to book a visa appointment at the nearest Hungarian Embassy/Consulate. Please ensure that you have read up on all the required documents in due time and have prepared your visa package accordingly. A visa application takes at least one month (in certain regions even 2 months), so be sure to book an appointment in time, but not too early either.

The overall processing time of applications is typically 7–15 days after the applicant has submitted a complete application, including all required documents.

  • Document verification: typically 3–7 days
  • Deadline for pre-recorded interview: typically 5 days
  • Evaluation of the interview and issuance of the conditional acceptance letter: typically 2–5 days
  • Issuance of the final acceptance letter: typically 2–3 days after the Finance Department confirms receipt of payment

Please note: The overall processing time also depends on the applicant’s responsiveness and cooperation, and may be extended in certain cases, such as delays in the payment process due to bank- or country-specific regulations or other individual circumstances.
