Student Research Societies - TDK

An important element of BUEB’s scholarly activity is the nurturing of student talent, a key area of which is the work of the Student Research Societies (TDK). Accordingly, successful Student Research Societies (TDK) operate at each Faculty of our University, with the aim of providing mentoring, nurturing talent, jointly exploring scientific topics, and conducting research in exciting fields. In the coming period, the aim is no longer to increase the activities of the Student Research Societies (TDK), but rather to strengthen their professional and academic content.

The Student Research Societies (TDK) are forums for scientific community experiences and talent development in Hungarian higher education, with a history of more than half a century. The Student Research Societies (TDK) are a “hungarikum” – a uniquely Hungarian initiative, unparalleled anywhere else in the world. .

Work within the Student Research Societies (TDK) requires cooperation and additional professional effort from both students and supervisors, while contributing to the individual and professional development of participants, the creation and publication of new scientific results, and the enhancement of our University’s reputation. In this spirit, since 2017 we have given special recognition to those outstanding colleagues who, on the basis of the achievements of the Student Research Societies (TDK), have excelled in talent development.

Students' Academic Societies

Our Students’ Academic Societies are student organisations that provide high-level professional training and foster community spirit, with the aim of cultivating socially responsible and professionally committed graduates sensitive to economic, business, and social issues, while supporting talented students. Three Students’ Academic Societies operate at BUEB, whose members are active in the activities of the Student Research Societies (TDK), in organising professional and community events, and in academic competitions. Each year, they represent our University in around 10 international and 30–40 national competitions, from which they bring home an average of 2 international and 10 national awards.

Sándor Lámfalussy Students' Academic Society

Our vision
The aim of the Lámfalussy Sándor Students’ Academic Society is to build a supportive community in which our members can continuously develop both professionally and personally. In this way, our peers can make the most of their university years – and beyond. The smooth implementation of these objectives is ensured by five committees, each responsible for coordinating the work of the members of the student organisation.

Our Community

With us, you do not need to choose between different opportunities: the diversity of life in a Students’ Academic Society lies in the fact that you can immerse yourself in the world of competitions, take part in practice-oriented courses, engage in research, or even collaborate with other student organisations on joint projects – all at the same time.

If you are more attracted by community programmes, team-building events, and a friendly atmosphere, you will also feel at home here – with us, professional ambitions never outweigh human connections Every member can find an area in which they can immerse themselves with joy and enthusiasm, while becoming part of a supportive, development-oriented community.

Committees

  • Case Study Committee

The Case Study Committee organises and manages competitions, enabling our members to test their knowledge, critical thinking, and presentation skills in real-life scenarios. Such competitions include our own Lámfalussy Sándor Business Simulation Competition (LSÜSZV) and the National Controlling Case Study Competition (OCEV). We also participate in international competitions, such as the NIBS International Business Simulation Competition.

  • Scientific and Cultural Committee:

The activities of this Committee extend to organising development opportunities for members, whether in the form of cultural programmes, courses aimed at developing hard and soft skills, or lectures designed to stimulate discussion. Examples include organising a course featuring the Communications Director of SPAR, a lecture series on economic crime, and an art therapy course.

  • HR:

The task of the HR Committee is to conduct the admission process for the Students’ Academic Society and integrate new members. In addition, throughout the year they organise various team-building programmes to foster a cohesive and well-functioning community. Thanks to their work, we have our induction and summer camps, as well as community events during the year, such as barbecues and activity evenings.

  • Marketing:

The Marketing Committee shares the news and events of the Students’ Academic Society on social media, while its members gain valuable marketing experience in this vibrant field. They are also responsible for providing communication support and documentation for events, working closely with the other committees to achieve this.

  • International Relations Committee:

The International Relations Committee builds and maintains relationships with the alumni network and the Students’ Academic Societies of other universities. It also represents the organisation at INTERKOLL within the framework of the National Students’ Academic Societies Movement. This Committee is responsible for ensuring that one of the Society’s core principles – social responsibility, for example through charity work, volunteering, and active participation in community matters – is put into practice.
In addition, the International Relations Committee assists in organising the Researchers’ Students’ Academic Society and Students Conference (KUSZA).

Miklós Káldor Students' Academic Society

The Miklós Káldor Students’ Academic Society operates at the Faculty of International Business of the Budapest University of Economics and Business. Our aim is to provide our members, as well as all students of the University, with opportunities to acquire higher-level knowledge that complements their university studies. We regularly organise lectures, workshops, and courses that are open to the public as well as events available exclusively to our members. Thanks to our Society, our Faculty has hosted guest lecturers and presenters such as Dániel Ács, Zoltán Pogátsa, Tamás Fábián, and many others.

As the Faculty’s professional and academic student organisation, we play an active role in organising professional events and conferences held at the Faculty. To promote the Faculty’s Student Research Societies (TDK) activities, we organise an annual TDK workshop and produce an informational publication.

In addition to professional development, we place great emphasis on community building. We want our members to form a cohesive and open community and to take an active part in the development of the organisation.

If we have sparked your interest, or if you have any questions, feel free to contact us!
