Institutional transfer

It is possible to transfer between two higher education institutions if you wish to continue your studies at the Budapest University of Economics and Business (BUEB).

There are two types of transfer procedures – please make sure to choose the one that fits your situation, and follow the corresponding rules and steps carefully.

If you are a Stipendium Hungaricum student, please refer to Section 3.

1. International student transferring from a foreign institution

If you are currently enrolled at a foreign university and wish to transfer to BUEB, you will need to apply through our online application system, just like new applicants.

You can access the portal here.

Please make sure to upload all required entry documents. You can find a detailed list under the “How to Apply” section.

Should your application be successful, here are the main rules about transferring credits:

  • We are unable to provide an estimate of transferable credits before enrolment.
  • You will be able to submit your credit transfer request only after enrolment.
  • Credit Transfer Decision may take up to 3 weeks to issue, depending on the volume of submitted documents.
  • At least 1/3 of your total credits must be earned at BUEB in order to graduate from our institution.
  • Subjects eligible for transfer must have at least 75% curriculum overlap with the relevant BUEB subjects.
  • The Credit Transfer Decision (Határozat) will only be issued after you enrol and submit a request for this through the Neptun system.
2. International student transferring from a Hungarian institution

If you are currently studying at a Hungarian higher education institution and hold a valid residence permit, you are not required to apply through the institutional admission procedure. In such cases, the transfer request must be submitted directly to the atvetel@uni-bge.hu, provided that the transfer is within the same field of study. Applicants intending to change their field of study should follow the procedure outlined in Section 1.

For further information on the transfer procedure, please click here and carefully read the 'For our prospective students' section:
