Why Choose BUEB?

What Does BUEB Offer?

A Degree for a Lifetime

Throughout our lives, we may change our place of residence, workplace, appearance, or even our name. Yet, our degree accompanies us for a lifetime. BUEB offers one of the most widely recognized diplomas in Hungary, a qualification held in high esteem and one that graduates can proudly mention for the rest of their lives.

Knowledge for a Lifetime

BUEB has a strong tradition of practice-oriented education. It provides up-to-date, professionally relevant training that equips students with a solid foundation for future employment, combined with just the right amount of theoretical background to understand the evolving business world of the coming decades. All major fields of economics are available, complemented by interdisciplinary programs such as Business Informatics, Communication and Media Studies, and International Relations. In nearly all of these areas, BUEB is a market leader.

A Lifetime of Experiences, Connections, and Friendships

University years are not only about studying. Extracurricular programs bring new acquaintances and lifelong friendships. With nearly 20,000 students, BUEB forms a large and diverse community where everyone can find their place and connect with peers who share similar interests.

BUEB is for a Lifetime!

Hungary’s Largest University of Economics and Business

For many years, BUEB has ranked first nationwide in the number of students admitted to undergraduate programs in economics.

All six major undergraduate fields in economics are available at BUEB, as the country’s largest higher education institution in this discipline: Business and Management, Commerce and Marketing, International Business, Finance and Accounting, Tourism and Hospitality, and Human Resource Management.

At the master’s level, the University also covers the key disciplinary areas, including Marketing, Leadership and Organization, Finance, Accounting, Tourism Management, Supply Chain Management, International Economy and Business, and Entrepreneurship Development).

A significant proportion of Hungary’s business professionals graduated from BUEB or its predecessor institutions. Together with them, as part of our alumni community, and with our current student body of nearly 20,000, BUEB represents Hungary’s largest business community.

In Budapest, you can find everything a university student might need. Culture, entertainment, sports, or other leisure opportunities – whatever your interests, you will find the perfect setting here. As the center of Hungary’s business life, the capital also offers excellent opportunities for internships and part-time employment alongside your studies.

A Recognized Degree and Career Support

A diploma from BUEB is highly respected and holds strong value on the labor market. Many of our graduates build successful corporate careers, while others establish their own businesses, creating jobs themselves.

We support our students’ success on the labor market already during their studies – through mentoring, career fairs, and our own Job&Future career portal.

According to data from the Graduate Career Tracking System, the vast majority of our alumni believe that BUEB truly prepared them for the labor market. In the interactive, searchable, and filterable report available here, we present findings based on DPR data collected between 2019 and 2023 among graduates of BUEB’s most popular programs – demonstrating why it is worth choosing BUEB, one of Hungary’s largest universities.

Scholarships and Opportunities

We are well aware that university studies represent a significant financial burden. We also know that a considerable number of BUEB students work during their academic years, and full-time employment makes it even more difficult to take full advantage of everything university life has to offer.

At BUEB, we believe that every ambitious young person should have the opportunity to participate in higher education. That is why we provide the necessary support framework to ensure that students can devote more time and energy to learning and personal development. A portion of the scholarships is funded from BUEB’s own resources, ensuring that even those who are not eligible for state funding can benefit from financial support.

Information about available scholarships can be found here.

BUEB – An International University

At BUEB, you can study in an international environment even without traveling abroad. As a Hungarian student, you will find countless opportunities to learn foreign languages, discover other cultures, and develop global thinking. Free language courses, international weeks held in English, and practice-oriented classes delivered by visiting professors all support your academic and personal growth. With nearly 1,400 international students from more than 90 countries, this multicultural environment becomes part of everyday life. In addition, you can take part in English-language professional and leisure programs that further strengthen your language skills and international competencies.

If you want to take an even greater step forward, BUEB is connected to more than 200 partner institutions across 40 countries, offering the opportunity to participate in study abroad programs. From short-term courses to semester- or year-long exchanges, and even the chance to earn a double degree, students can choose from a wide range of options.

The University’s international recognition and high-quality education are confirmed by prestigious awards and accreditations, such as those granted by CIPR, the Institute of Hospitality, and NIBS. BUEB is also proud to hold the PRME Champion title, a testament to its strong commitment to sustainability. The goal is that every student graduates with the knowledge and language proficiency needed to succeed in today’s global world – whether in Hungary or in an international environment.

Joining our vibrant international community in the heart of Europe is an extraordinary way to establish your future and it gives you a chance to excel.

Campuses and Student Residences

At BUEB, you can study on two campuses: the historic yet modern Downtown Campus, which meets today’s educational needs, and the Zugló Campus, which also includes the UniZone Student Center opened in 2023.

In addition to the continuous development of our current facilities, in 2025 – after long preparation – we launched a major campus development project. BUEB’s new campuses will be established in two iconic buildings of Budapest, on Andrássy Avenue and Váci Street. These former headquarters buildings will preserve the values of the past while offering opportunities for a forward-looking, modern university environment. According to the plans, green courtyards, spacious community areas, state-of-the-art classrooms, and vibrant student spaces will welcome the BUEB community. Students enrolling in the coming years are expected to complete their studies on these new campuses.

Our University offers two dormitories and one leased accommodation option for students, all at highly affordable rates. In BUEB’s own dormitories, the fees are especially favorable: for students enrolled in state-funded programs, monthly dormitory fees range between 10,000 and 20,000 HUF, while for those in self-financed programs, the range is between 20,000 and 30,000 HUF, depending on the room type. At the leased accommodation, the monthly fee is uniformly around 40,000 HUF for all residents.

A Vibrant Student Life

University years should not be only about studying, but also about enjoyment and shared experiences. Within BUEB’s diverse community of nearly 20,000 students, you are sure to find peers who share your interests.

During your university years, countless opportunities await: you can try new activities, meet a wide variety of people, discover yourself, explore your abilities and limits – all while learning and growing.

The University itself also organizes community programs and events that provide opportunities for students to connect beyond the classroom. From annual activities such as group ice skating and ski camps, to events that strengthen international relations within the university, and even volunteer initiatives, there is always something to take part in. Students with a passion for sports can join BUEB’s athletic teams, while those more inclined toward science and self-development can engage with the specialized colleges or the activities of the Scientific Students’ Association. In addition, numerous independent student organizations are open for new members.

At each of our faculties, a Student Union (HÖK), operates, which not only represents and protects students’ interests but also plays a major role in enriching everyday university life. In addition to organizing numerous professional events, the Student Union also arranges a wide range of parties and cultural programs – including the Freshers’ Camp and Freshers’ Ball, both excellent opportunities to dive headfirst into university life.
