Introduction
I have been teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) at Budapest Business School, University of Applied Sciences (BBS) for 20 years. The ESP courses offered at BA, BSc and MSc level and in the form of higher-level vocational training mainly cover Business English, English for Diplomacy and English for the Media. I also teach specialised (business) translation from English to Hungarian and from Hungarian to English at the postgraduate specialist training course in translation and interpreting (BBS). I am a regular member of the Hungarian Association of Applied Linguists and Language Teachers (MANYE) and an invited member of its supervisory body. I earned two MA degrees in English Language and Literature and Portuguese Language and Literature at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest (ELTE). I also completed the Literary Translation Programme at ELTE. In 2000 I won the translation scholarship of the Danish Foreign Ministry and spent a university term at the University of Copenhagen under the supervision of dr. Cay Dollerup. I hold a degree in Economics that I have earned at Corvinus University, Budapest. I am also a certified foreign trade correspondent in English language. I am currently pursuing the PhD programme in Translation Studies at ELTE. My major research area is audiovisual translation, non-professional translation, transfer strategies and translation universals. I have been analyzing TED Talks subtitled by volunteer translators from various angles. From a sociological point of view, I am interested in the motivation of the translators and the TED translation workflow that is responsible for maintaining quality. From a genre-related perspective, my studies focus on describing the rhetorical structural of TED presentations. And from a linguistic perspective, my main interest is the subtitling techniques used by the TED translators especially explicitation. At the International Business Languages Department of BBS FIMB (Faculty of International Management and Business) I am responsible for supervising the Presentation Techniques course.; I was Head of the English Department at the College of International Management and Business (the predecessor of BBS FIMB) between 2007-2010. In 2015 I taught at the Portuguese Instituto Universitário de Maia in the framework of the Erasmus+ Teacher Mobility. Currently I am taking part in telecollaboration projects at BBS to provide students the possibility to experience real-life work in intercultural teams by using digital tools (Bonn-Budapest Intercultural communication / Digital collaboration project, ICCAGE – Intercultural Communicative Competence telecollaboration project, OVE – online virtual exchange project). These projects enable the students to acquire the relevant 21st century soft skills they need in business life (negotiation techniques, team work, collaboration, intercultural communication, time management, stress management, task delegation, creativity, etc.). At ESSE 2018 conference (European Society for the Study of English) I organized a telecollaboration section together with the lecturers of Czech Technical School in Prague.; I have been a certified business English language examiner of The Foreign Language Examination Centre at BBS since 2003. I also worked as a Language Proficiency Examiner of UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency) at BBS between 2014-2016.
