The Department of Languages for Finance and Business Management offers language development courses including English, German, Russian and Hungarian for business, and language for specific purposes courses as well as skills development courses. Our skills development courses (e.g. business and intercultural communication, career building, study skills) aim to form and develop those skills that are necessary in the world of business and work.
There are 24 full-time and 5 to 10 part-time colleagues at our Department, who offer a total of 14 different specialized language and communication courses. Our teaching materials are characterized by constant renewal and development both as far as their content and methodological approach are concerned. In addition, the Department strives to meet the expectations of the 21st century in the educational methods and methods of evaluation it uses. Concerning classroom work, competence development, skills development for lifelong learning and efficient teamwork are our priorities. As a closely-knit community capable of producing tangible results, our Department works in a congenial and co-operative atmosphere.
Our Department’s main fields of research are connected to language teaching, teaching languages for specific purposes and related disciplines (interculturality, cultural education, regional and cultural studies, communication, skills development, translation studies, terminology, descriptive linguistics).In addition to the above areas of research, members of our Department individually or jointly research the theoretical and practical aspects of the following fields: telecollaboration, 21st century skills, alternative assessment, presentation skills, methodology and text linguistics.
