Introduction

I started my teaching career at the College of Finance and Accountancy, Salgótarján in 1987, right after receiving my first degree in linguistics and teaching from the Belarusian State University. I taught Russian language as a freelance teacher for a year until I was offered a full-time position at the College in 1988. I gained my second teaching degree summa cum laude in German language from ELTE Budapest in 1994 and I was teaching German for finance and accountancy and business communication in German till the closure of the college in 2013. Since February 2013 I have been employed as a full-time teacher at the Budapest University of Economics and Business, Faculty of Commerce, Catering and Tourism, where I currently teach Russian and German for Specific Purposes. I completed my PhD studies at the Doctoral School of Linguistics, ELTE BTK and defended my dissertation Functional, semantic and stylistic changes in the lexis of abbreviations in contemporary Russian language summa cum laude in 2005. I work as an examiner for several examination systems: in German language for ORIGO, BGE, ECL and in Russian language for BGE. Since August 2015 I have regularly participated in the Belarusian-Hungarian literary translation and civilisation camps organised by the Lakitelek People’s Academy, where I teach Belarusian courses. I take part in the task development and item writing work of the Foreign Language Examination Centre of the Budapest Business School both in German and Russian languages and I have been the Head of the German Section since 2018.
