Objectives, rationale of the project/research
Researches shows, that in time, the long-term motivation is missing at the students of adult education. It is very important to discover the reasons of the dropout and to develop a prevention programme, which helps to identify in time the symptoms and to deal with them.
The aim of the project is the development of a pedagogical method adapted to the adult education based on the recommendations of the andragogy. The learners from adult education needs a special pedagogical methodology, the methods used in higher education are not suitable for them, because they are based on the inexperienced youth coming out from secondary education, with no life experience.
Our objective is the exploitation of the experiences acquired during the formation, which helps to identify the specific needs and the use of the differentiated pedagogy of the participants in adult education.
Planned activities:
We plan to create a common survey at the partner institutions about the dropping out of the participants in adult education:
- developing a common questionnaire, which helps to identify the dropout reasons. Everyone could use its own specific methods to collect the answers: phone, interview, etc.
- dissemination of the results
- analysing the needs
- building up a de-drop unit
- creating cooperative learning groups.
Main results and outputs of the project/research
These are the results we plan to achieve by the end of the project:
- Decreasing drop-out rate by increasing engagement and motivation of learners
- Better knowledge of our target-group and its difficulties
- Improving internal practices and tools to prevent drop-out
- Implement these tools and practices
- Development of a portfolio including: analysis of the situation and of our target-group, comparison and conclusions.
- Improving the way the issue is tackle in our institutions and improving the competences of our staff on the subject
- Discovering other adult education in other national context and learn from their experience
- Strengthening our network with other European institutions
