Introduction

Dr Orsolya Pócsik is an economist and Assistant Professor at the Department of International Economics of the Budapest Business University. She completed her doctoral studies and was awarded the PhD from the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Doctoral School of Economic and Regional Sciences. During her doctoral studies, she was awarded the New National Excellence Program (ÚNKP) scholarship on two occasions. During her higher education studies, she obtained a qualification as a teacher of economics with a specialisation in Tourism and Hospitality at Budapest Business School, completing the programme over the course of two semesters. Her qualification as a Teacher of Educational Science at the University of Debrecen, and an English–Hungarian Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Miskolc. She further expanded her academic background in an international context by completing economics courses at the University of Oxford. Her research interests lie in behavioural economics, economic decision-making, and the role of trust and institutional frameworks in individual and organisational behaviour. A central objective of her scholarly work is the development of economic thinking, with particular attention to how bounded rationality, heuristics, and institutional incentives shape decisions across different economic contexts. In her teaching, she places strong emphasis on fostering economic reasoning, developing an analytical and evidence-based approach, and connecting theoretical frameworks with real-world decision-making situations. Through a trust–decision–institutional perspective, her courses aim to support students in acquiring a data-driven, critical, and responsible understanding of economic processes.
