Clocks Can Be Stopped, Tipping Points Cannot -

When Politics Pauses but Physics Doesn’t:

Sustainability in an Age of ‘Stop the Clock’

Date: 24th April 2026

Venue: Teams online conference

What happens when political clocks are stopped, but physical limits are not?

How do sustainability challenges evolve in an era of delayed decisions and accelerating tipping points? Find the answers, stay alert to irreversible environmental and social thresholds, explore emerging sustainability trends, share resilient practices and solutions, and rethink innovation beyond political timelines.

The BUEB International Sustainability Student Conference provides an excellent opportunity to achieve all these within the framework of one conference!

The conference aims to bring together those students and fellow researchers interested in sustainability who would like to present new research, exchange information, and discuss the current issues.

Key Dates

  • Abstract submission deadline: 5 April 2026
  • Conference presentation: 24 April 2026
  • Full paper submission deadline: 3 May 2026

The manuscript submission platform will become available on the conference website after the abstract submission deadline.

Conference Sections

As a responsible University and Champion of PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) cordially invite all bachelor, master, and PhD students to conduct independent research in the following topics:

1. Sustainability Beyond Policy Cycles

2. Education, Knowledge and the Politics of Delay

3. Gender, Equality and Social Sustainability Under Pressure

4. Tourism and Hospitality in a Warming World

5. Cities, Communities and Adaptation Limits

6. Consumption, Production and the Myth of Incremental Change

7. Climate Action Without Political Momentum

Where to publish?

The conference offers four publication opportunities:

  • Publishing in a peer-reviewed conference proceeding with an ISBN number containing studies with a separate DOI number (manuscripts requirements are available on the website)
  • Selected papers that meet the requirements of BUEB's journal Prosperitas can be submitted for peer review. For more information about submission to Prosperitas, click here.
  • Publication opportunities are offered in the university’s academic journals: Business & Diplomacy Review and Multidisciplinary Challenges, Diverse Responses

During manuscript submission, authors are required to specify the intended publication venue. This information is particularly important, as it will be taken into account during the editorial and review process.

  • For manuscripts intended for the conference proceedings and for Prosperitas, papers must comply with the content and formatting requirements of Prosperitas.
  • For manuscripts intended for Business & Diplomacy Review and Multidisciplinary Challenges, Diverse Responses, authors are advised to visit the official websites of the respective journals and ensure that their submissions meet the relevant content, formatting, and submission criteria.

In the first stage, all manuscripts must be uploaded via the Manuscript Submission page indicated on the conference website. Authors will be notified about the next steps after submission. The manuscript submission platform will become available on the conference website after the abstract submission deadline.
