The BGEs completed a successful KEK

This year's KEK Cup was held on the first weekend of March, where BGE students were able to stand on top of the podium in three sports.

In chess, Levente Papp took first place among the professionals.

Running: As the face of KEK, Juli Nagy was able to stand on the top step of the podium in 10 km and in pairs, 15 km.

Volleyball: The BGE women's team finished undefeated at the top of the podium at the end of the two-day tournament. The girls played in the group with teams from ELTE, NKE and the University of Szabadka, and then defeated the SZTE team in the semi-finals. In Saturday's final, Metropolitan University was the opponent, and the BGE girls beat them 2:0.

Team members: Réka Krachler, Angyalka Nagy, Noémi Papp, Dalma Vasady-Kovács, Vivien Czelter, Beatrix Szász, Katalin Galgóczy

Coaches: Blanka Saáry, Edina Varga

Upbeat results at handball MEFOB

Women's team:

BGE-SZE: 21-41 (11-24)

Last year's podium finisher, the University of Győr, was considered the contender for the duel, and this was proven in the first match. At the beginning of the match, the teams went head-to-head, but after 4-5, led by Balogh Babett (SZE), the Győrs gradually pulled away from their opponents. BBU tried to keep up even with a narrow framework, but could not pick up the fast pace of the University of Győr. By halftime, the visiting team was leading by 13 goals.

In the second half, both teams "experimented" with their line-ups, but important issues were decided from the point of view of advancement. The last 5 goals of the match were scored by Széchenyi University, creating a 20-goal difference.

Men's team:

Result: BGE-SZE: 38-33 (20-16)

First of all, the passing performances of both teams dominated during the match, and the visiting spectators could see a high-quality and well-paced match.

BGE started the match as a home team should, as they led 5-2 in the 5th period. After that, however, Győr also shook itself up and equalized lightning fast. The second half of the first half brought a more balanced game, but under the leadership of Csongor Csányi, BGE gradually pulled away from its opponent, so it was 20-16 on the scoreboard in the first half.

If BGE started the first half as a home team should, then Győr started the second half as a visiting team should. They made it 5-0 in 5 minutes and took the lead. However, after the time-out from Budapest, the one-goal difference between the two teams became permanent. In the middle of the second half, the home team mercilessly exploited a double man advantage and gained a 3-goal advantage. BGE closed the last few minutes better, so they can expect the rematch with a 5-goal advantage.

BBU:

Dávid Szabad, Manazya Felicián, Noel Szabadi, Tamás Mallinger (5), Oliver Willi (9), Áron Kovács (6), Csongor Csányi (10), Gergő Juhász (1), Martin Fodor (2), Bálint Csákvári, Imre Palatin , Márton Kardos (3), Zsombor Madár (2)

Waterpolo: that wasn't our day

On March 9-10, the 2024 Water Polo MEFOB qualifiers were held in the Szőnyi útí swimming pool, where BGE participated almost traditionally this year as well. The boys played against the Eszterházy Károly Catholic University team on Saturday morning, and after a close final game, they ended up losing 10-9. In the afternoon, the opponent was the Corvinus team, with whom, as usual in previous years, a big battle had to be fought. The final result of the match was 11-15 in favor of the opposing team. On Sunday, the BGE boys had to fight against the University of Sopron, which they defeated with a score of 15-6, but unfortunately, this was not enough to reach the final, as they finished in third place in their group due to two defeats the previous day.

Coach: Dr. Dániel Krüzselyi

The women's fencing team made it to the Paris Olympics!

The dot has been added! Our world champion women's saber team also secured its place in the field of eight of the Paris Olympics at the VK-7 in Athens. With his place. Of course, it was not due to the seventh place in Athens on Sunday that the women's sword team composed of Sugár Battai, Anna Márton, Liza Pusztai, and Luca Szűcs mathematically secured their place in the five-ring games. Much more for the world championship gold medal, but it needed the valuable "assistant points", like this one now.
