Budapest University of Economics and Business

I have been teaching courses in higher education since 1998. My courses up the present include language practice, methodology, translation, and English for specific purposes. I have participated in the planning and design of several higher education programmes, and took part in the preparation of accompanying syllabi, courses and teaching materials.

With over 20 years of expertise in higher education, I am a member of the following organisations: Hungarian Association of Teachers and Researchers of Languages for Specific Purposes (2012–), Hungarian Association of Applied Linguists and Language Teachers (2020–), Korea Association of Teachers of English (2017–), Hungarian Chapter of the Central European Association for Canadian Studies (2003–), and Central European Association for Canadian Studies (2004–).

I find talent nurturing highly important at all levels of the structure of the University including the Institute of Foreign Languages and Communication, the Faculty of Finance and Accountancy, and the Department of Languages for Finance and Management concerning both our students and staff. To facilitate this, I am the department-level coordinator of National Scientific Students’ Associations Conference related issues and I provide coaching and language-related training to the students of BBS’s Lámfalussy Sándor College for Advanced Studies. In addition, I offer consultation, expert advice and project coordination related counsel to the staff of the above Institute and Department.

Internationally acclaimed academic works co-authored by me include the Canadian-German-Hungarian Reader published in 2010: the International Council for Canadian Studies acknowledged this publication as ‘one of the four most innovative research projects of the year 2011’.

Apart from my work as an instructor and leader, I actively participate in Hungarian and international scientific life. I regularly publish articles in Hungarian and international journals, give conference talks at Hungarian and international events, sometimes as invited speaker.

Another professional activities of mine include reviewing and editing jobs for several Hungarian and international journals including Modern Nyelvoktatás, Porta Lingua and Acta Universitatis Sapientiae Philologica.

At request, I also act as opponent at the Translation Studies PhD Programme of Eötvös Loránd University’s Faculty of Humanities.

I am a member of several university-based and inter-university research groups: 2006– Canada in the English Classroom Research Group (Károli Gáspár University, BBS, University of Bonn); 2013– Korean Learners’ English as a Foreign Language Proficiency Research Group (Károli Gáspár University, BBS); 2018– Alternative Assessment Research Group (BBS); 2018– The Grand North (Károli Gáspár University, BBS).
