Introduction

My name is Dr. Csilla Petykó, and I have been working at the Department of Tourism for over 20 years. I firmly believe that achieving long-term career satisfaction is possible for those who genuinely enjoy their work. I find great fulfillment in teaching and working with young people. My academic background includes a Master's degree in Transportation Systems Management from the Transportation Engineering Faculty of the Budapest University of Technology. I began my professional career at the Budapest Transport Company. A particularly rewarding experience was the planning of the public transport connections for the Budapest-Vienna World Expo, which was underway during that period. Subsequently, I contributed to the analysis of the capital's public transportation network and the formulation of proposals aimed at enhancing efficiency. Prior to my joining BGE, I studied Tourism and Hospitality Management at KVIK, which gave me a good foundation for my future work. My academic background, particularly my primary areas of study, demonstrates a strong interest in the intersection of transport and tourism, as well as various facets of destination development. I obtained my PhD degree at the Doctoral School of Earth Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Pécs. My thesis focused on the development and spatial aspects of Hungarian camping tourism. In addition to teaching, I have also been involved in research on tourism in Budapest, with a special focus on creative tourism and accessibility. In the context of an international Erasmus+ project, I had the opportunity to engage with digital storytelling, a new dimension that has enriched my teaching approach. I am continually seeking new opportunities and innovative methods to incorporate into my teaching. The most rewarding aspect of my work is collaborating with students, ranging from simple seminars to complex scientific research projects.
