Introduction

I began my higher education studies at our university – formerly called College of Commerce and Hospitality – in 1984. I completed two majors in parallel, so I obtained my Hospitality Business Management and Specialist Teacher diploma in 1989 with excellent qualifications. I have been working at the Department of Tourism and Hospitality since 1996. My taught subjects are related to hotel management and Revenue Management. My previous work experience also comes from this field. I have been working in the hotel industry since 1982 (Árpád Hotel (Pannónia) - Tatabánya), and after graduating from college I was also employed in this field. I worked for seven years in a management position (in Budapest: Korona Pension, Bara Pension, and I tried my hand at Germany (Pension Hölzle). I had the opportunity to manage (as GM) two hotels in Hungary, which meant both pleasant and difficult moments, but overall I loved it! I still maintain close ties with the hotel industry, and I lead the Environmental Protection Section of the Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants Association.
Currently – in addition to my work as an associate professor – I also actively participate in the development of secondary and adult education: as an examination chair, I usually participate in OKJ professional and level exams, prepare professional competition assignments, and judge professional study competitions. This gives me a good opportunity to get to know and understand the generation of high school students applying to our university, and to see what kind of foundations they come to higher education with.
I am pleased to experience that more and more of my former students in the hotels I visit greet me, and I am proud them, because they are suitable for various positions. As a teacher, I am committed to educating students with a broad perspective, professionally prepared and with all the necessary competencies. I pay special attention to talent management, I regularly prepare my students for international competitions, especially in Hotel Management and Revenue Management topics. For the sake of my own scientific development, after graduating from the Budapest University of Economics, I obtained a PhD degree at Szent István University in Gödöllő in 2014.
