My name is Dr. Norbert Magyar. I began my academic career in 2015 as an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Methodology at the Budapest Business School. Currently, I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Sustainability and also serve as Vice-Dean for General Affairs at the Faculty.
I graduated from the Faculty of Science at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in 2012 with an MSc in Environmental Science, specializing as an Applied Environmental Researcher. I also earned my PhD from the same institution in 2018 within the Doctoral School of Environmental Sciences. My dissertation focused on the multivariate statistical analysis of water quality and water level data from Lake Fertő (Neusiedl Lake).
Before joining BGE, I taught data analysis-related subjects at ELTE for both undergraduate and master's students. At present, I am primarily involved in teaching statistics courses in both Hungarian and English. In addition, I have also taught information technology subjects.
Supporting talented students has always been important to me. For two years, I served as Chair of the Scientific Students’ Associations Council at the Faculty.
Alongside my teaching responsibilities, I actively engage in research and publish regularly. I am also an active member of the scientific community. I belong to the Geomathematical Subcommittee and the Statistical Scientific Subcommittee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, as well as the Hungarian Geological Society.
