Introduction

Pál István Gyene, PhD – assosciate professor at Budapest Business School, Faculty of Inbternational Management and Business, Department of International Relations
Graduated from Political Science and History at Eötvös Lóránd University. After graduation conducted his doctoral studies (PhD) at International Relations Doctoral School of Corvinus University Budapest. His main fields of expertise are comparative politics, transitology, state and nation building processes and democratization in post-soviet Central Asia and Southeast Asia. He wrote his PhD dissertation about the comparative analysis of post-soviet central-asian political systems. Later on this work has been published as a monography (in hungarian language), and was awarded with Budapest Business School Scientific Prize in 2018.
Related to his research activity He participated on several international conferences and scholarships, including a longer stay in Turkey and Indonesia. During the summer of 2018 He was conducting research as a visiting scholar of Oriental Business and Innovation Center at Gadjah Mada University of Yogyakarta (Indonesia). Beside scientific publications He is author of several educational materials e.g „Political Science” handbook edited for the students of Budapest Business School.
He is publishing scientific articles on regular basis in hungarian and international journals like Hungarian Review of Foreign Affaris; Hungaian Review of Political Science; Society and Economy (scietific periodical of Corvinus University of Budapest); Peace, Conflict and Democracy (journal of Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta).
He is a lecturer at Budapest Business School since 2004, teaching mostly Political Science, Economic History and „international relations” related subjects as „Regional Studies”, „Developing Countries in International Relations”, „Current Issues of European Politics” and „Economic and Social Development of EU Member States” both in English and in Hungarian language. He is a regular guest lecturer at Pázmány Péter Catholic University and at Corvinus University of Budapest giving classes about his main research topics (post-soviet Central Asia and Southeast Asia). He is also participating on regular basis at round table discussions of Hungarian Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade and occasionally appears as „expert” in hungarian media (Clubradio, Euronews, Radio Patria etc.). Pál Gyene is also actively contributing to the scientific and public events of Budapest Business School (e.g. Researchers’ Days or various events of the Oriental Business Academy). He is also member of the Hungarian Political Science Association since 2003.
