The Doctoral School requests its PhD students to pay a tuition fee.
The tuition fee for Hungarian, EU and EEA citizens: HUF 950,000 per semester.
The tuition fee for third-country citizens: EUR 3,400 per semester.
The documents listed below are to be attached to the application:
· copy of degree supplement(s) (transcript);
· copy of degree certificate(s);
· CV;
· copy of foreign language certificate(s);
· certification of any Hungarian National Scientific Students’ Associations Conference (TDK) activity;
· copy of published articles;
· motivation letter;
· research plan (i.e. description of the doctoral thesis in 5-10 pages, which should include a description of the following: 1. Motivation of research; 2. Research topic; 3. Literature review; 4. Research question(s); 5. Planned research methodology; 6. Expected results and their application; 7. Bibliography);
· proof of payment of the admission procedure fee;
· official certificate of good conduct (or certificate of clean criminal record or police clearance) issued within 3 months

Basic requirements for admission include: holding a master’s degree and holding a CEFR B2 or higher level English language certificate (proving proficiency in both oral and written language skills) recognised by the Hungarian state, or any other certificate equivalent thereof.
BUEB DSEB welcomes master’s degree holders in the following fields:
- marketing;
- international economics and management;
- international studies;
- finance;
- accountancy;
- tourism management;
- enterprise development;
- management and leadership;
- teacher of economics;
- supply chain management;
- MBA (Master of Business Administration)
At the same time, BUEB DSEB is also open to those applicants who hold other master’s degrees and wish to pursue doctoral studies in the field of entrepreneurship and business. In such cases, verifying compliance with admission requirements is performed on an individual basis.
Applicants who are going to obtain their master’s degrees in the 2026/2027 academic year may be granted only conditional admission to the doctoral programme until they present their degrees.
The examination committee essasses the academic performance and language skills of the applicant. Admission is based on an oral examination, in which the examinitaion committee considers the applicant's motivation and aptitude for research, the proficiency of the applicant in the research field, the feasibility of the research plan, and the commitment of the applicant to research.
