Dr. György Andor graduated from Budapest University of Technology and Economics in engineering, and from the predecessor of present-day Corvinus University of Budapest in economics. He received a doctoral title from both universities, and got his PhD in 1999. In 2018, he earned his habilitated doctorate at the University of Pécs, and he has been a full professor since 2019. He has been professionally active in the field of economics, and has been a university lecturer for 30 years, mainly in the fields of finance, business and community economics. He has extensive experience in higher education leadership. For long periods, he served as head of department, head of programme and vice dean. He served two terms as Vice-Rector General of Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and later as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the same University. He was the Founding Dean of Eötvös Loránd University’s Faculty of Economics. Under his leadership, universities and faculties have always achieved outstanding results on a national level. In addition to his leadership activities, he has managed several successful university facility development programmes.
His appointment as Budapest Business University’s Rector was supported by the University’s Senate and Board of Trustees, which was followed by his appointment to the post by the President of Hungary on the proposal of the Minister of Culture and Innovation.
