Based on the Council Implementing Decision 2022/2506 of 15 December 2022 the Hungarian public interest trusts and entities maintained by them (the foundation-maintained Hungarian universities like BBU) are suspended in the ERASMUS+, Horizon Europe and other European Programmes supported by the European Commission.
The Decision prohibits to enter into new legal commitments with Hungarian public interest trusts and entities maintained by them when implementing the EU budget in direct and indirect management. This measure aims to protect the Union budget from possible conflicts of interest and to ensure the transparent use of EU support by public interest trusts. As long as the measure is in place, no award may be granted and no new legal commitment involving EU budget may be signed with these entities.
In the meantime, Hungarian entities that are concerned by the Decision can still apply to calls for proposals and participate in the evaluation and selection procedures of the EU programmes in direct and indirect management, such as Erasmus+ or Horizon Europe.
As the FinArch project was selected for grant by the German National Agency, Budapest Business University (BBU) had to change its status to associated partner in line with the above mentioned EC Decision. In line with the Hungarian Government support policy, BBU was able to apply for the same amount of grant in the framework of the Hungarian Government Fund (HGF) to help the participation in the FinArch project.
After long preparation process BBU received the HGF support and the roles and responsibilities of the remaining partnership and BBU were discussed and agreed by all parties. All in all with the ERASMUS+ and HFG grant the partnership are ready to complete more scientific and practical results, achieve broad impacts in the participating countries and partly involve Slovakia to the research and development activities as well.
