Your BGE IT password is required to access several of the University's IT systems and services.
This guide provides assistance with:
- setting an initial password for newly admitted students,
- requesting a new password if you have forgotten your current password,
- changing an existing password.
Newly admitted students – setting your initial password
Newly admitted students must set their initial password using the information provided during the admission process.
You can start the password setup process at:
You will need the following information:
- your Neptun code in CAPITAL LETTERS,
- the private email address you provided during the admission process
(e.g. gmail.com, freemail.hu, icloud.com, etc.).
You will receive an email at the private email address you provided with detailed instructions on the next steps.
Forgotten password – requesting a new password
If you have forgotten your password or are unable to sign in because of it, you can request a password reset at:
You will need the following information:
- your Neptun code in CAPITAL LETTERS,
- the private email address registered in Neptun.
A password reset can be requested once every 24 hours.
The system will send an email containing further instructions to the private email address you provided.
If you do not receive the email:
- check your Spam / Junk folder,
- make sure that you entered the correct private email address,
- if necessary, contact the Student Customer Service Office (HÜI) to verify that the correct private email address is registered in Neptun.
Password requirements
Your new password must meet the following requirements:
- it must be at least 8 characters long;
- it must contain at least:
- 1 lowercase letter (a–z),
- 1 uppercase letter (A–Z),
- 1 number (0–9);
- it may also contain special characters
(e.g. ! @ # $ ^ - ; < } [ ).
Your password must not contain:
- your Neptun code,
- your surname,
- your first name.
Tip: Choose a password that is easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess.
Unsuccessful password setup or password change
If you are unable to set or change your password, please contact the staff of the Student Customer Service Office (HÜI).
After verifying your identity, they can assist you, if necessary, with registering or checking your private email address in the Neptun system.

Security lockout
After several unsuccessful sign-in attempts, your user account may be locked for 30 minutes for security reasons.
In this case, please wait until the lockout period has expired and then try signing in again using the correct password.

Systems accessible with your BGE IT password
Your BGE IT password is required to access, among others, the following services and systems:
- computers in classrooms and common areas,
- the Neptun study administration system,
- the CoSpace system,
- the Modulo2 system,
- the Moodle system,
- protected content available on the BGE website,
- the Wi-Fi network.
