The goal of the Department of International Economics is to provide students with knowledge that is theoretically well-grounded, practically applicable, and up to date. At the core of the department’s work—reflecting both its name and the highly globalized nature of today’s economic processes—is the teaching of various fields of international economic activity. At the same time, the department’s staff also participate in teaching the foundational economics courses necessary for mastering these fields.
Presentation of the Department’s Educational Field
The staff of the Department of International Economics provide high-quality, modern teaching. This activity is reflected in subjects taught across several faculties of the university, but with the greatest emphasis in the Faculty of International Management and Business. The department’s lecturers play a key role in overseeing and teaching courses in the International Business bachelor’s program and the International Economy and Business master’s program. Our university-wide course International Economics will be taught in nearly all bachelor’s programs at BGE.
Presentation of the Department’s Research Field
The department’s research activity is closely linked to the subjects taught by its faculty members. Since our work is carried out within a higher education institution, an essential goal is the integration of our research results (and the latest research in general) into university teaching.
In line with the disciplinary diversity of its faculty, the department’s research areas range from foundational economic theory and methodological research to topics related to international economics, world economy, the practice of European economic integration, Hungary’s foreign trade, as well as practical issues in commerce, business, and logistics.
