The Department of Social Sciences deals with the global challenges facing modern societies, opportunities for international cooperation, and methodological issues in teaching economics. It also addresses how to develop the as-yet hard-to-identify skills of future employees in the 21st century, taking into account one of today’s greatest challenges and opportunities: the development of artificial intelligence.
Presentation of the Department’s Educational Field
Our educational programs focus on developing students’ global skills and critical thinking. In addition to teaching the common undergraduate subject International and Legal Studies and several faculty-specific courses, one of the department’s key tasks is to familiarize students in the International Studies bachelor’s and master’s programs with the main aspects of international relations, foreign policy, diplomacy, and the functioning of the European Union, current international processes, as well as the documents governing international cooperation. Our Community Development program and our pedagogical programs focus on modern community organization methods, as well as educational and curriculum development methodologies.
Students can apply their theoretical knowledge to analyzing and solving real problems, for example in the fields of social conflicts, economic challenges, cultural organization projects, or even classroom situations.
