Department of Sustainability
Department of Sustainability

The mission of the Department of Sustainability is to introduce students to the concept of sustainable development and to equip them with the skills necessary for responsible, value-driven decision-making.

Our department is a workshop where students commit to the sustainability mindset and acquire practices applicable in both profit-oriented and non-profit organizations. Upon completing their theoretical and practical studies, students will be prepared to make responsible decisions with a global perspective, taking into account economic, social, and environmental considerations, supported by the analysis of various professional data.

Presentation of the Department’s Educational Field

The department’s educational activities are built on interdisciplinarity and a practical approach to sustainability. Teaching focuses on presenting the sustainability interconnections of environmental protection and socio-economic systems, helping students understand and address complex ecological and human challenges. Our courses, including the Sustainable and Responsible Management course taught across nine undergraduate programs, incorporate global perspectives, regional specificities, as well as micro-level sustainable and responsible strategies and practices.

In teaching our courses, special emphasis is placed on statistical foundations, enabling students to analyze and visualize data.

Presentation of the Department’s Research Field

The department’s research focuses on the challenges of sustainable development and various aspects of sustainability and responsibility. Among the research areas, special emphasis is placed on examining the economic, social, and environmental issues of sustainability. Integrating research results into university education is a key priority, ensuring that students encounter the latest knowledge and practical examples during their studies.

In both our teaching and research, professional credibility, reliability, and collaboration play a decisive role, all of which are essential for sustainable, value-driven operation.
