According to the decision of the Minister responsible for education, pursuant to Section 64(5) of Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education (Nftv.) and Government Decree 51/2007 (III.26.) on the allowances and certain reimbursements payable to students participating in higher education, for the academic year 2024/2025 the Budapest Business University invites applications for 51 candidates for the National Scholarship for Higher Education.
The national scholarship of higher education is open to full-time undergraduate and master's students at the institution who
a) have enrolled for at least two semesters of their current or previous studies and have earned at least 55 credits,
b) have completed at least 90% of the total number of credits of the sample curriculum required for the study programme on a pro-rata basis, and
c) have achieved a minimum credit index of 4.00 on average over the two consecutive active semesters and have completed academic or other professional work in one of the two semesters (e.g., Students’ Scientific Association [TDK], vocational college, publication, etc.).
To maintain high academic and professional standards, national scholarships of higher education are awarded to students of higher education institutions who
‒ have achieved outstanding academic results, and
‒ have excelled in their professional field (e.g., participation in TDK competitions, public, professional, sports activities, etc.) in the academic year 2023/2024.
Article 91 of the Student Requirements Framework (hereinafter: HKR) regulates in detail the conditions for application, and the details of the announcement and the evaluation are set out in the call for applications.
The national scholarship of higher education is awarded on a personal basis by the Minister responsible for education, taking into account the ranking proposed by the higher education institution. The disbursement of the National Higher Education Scholarship shall not be rescheduled beyond the academic year following the application. The monthly amount of the national scholarship of higher education is HUF 40,000 per person per month pursuant to Section 114/D(1)(c) of the Nftv.
The national scholarship of higher education is awarded for a maximum of one academic year (10 months). Applications from undergraduate and master’s students should be treated separately, and separate proposals should be made for the award of scholarships.
A scholarship won for academic year 2024/2025 shall be disbursed in academic year 2024/2025 only. If the student's status as a student is terminated or suspended, the scholarship will not be paid.
Students are eligible to apply at the institution in which they are students at the time of application (second semester of the academic year 2023/2024).
In the event that a student who has applied for a scholarship but has been rejected is worthy of and eligible for the scholarship on the basis of the above criteria and the institutional allocation, but has not been awarded the scholarship due to an institutional procedural error, and this fact can be established in the course of a legal remedy procedure, the Minister responsible for education is entitled to award a national scholarship of higher education to this student, from the institution's student allocation or from its own income.
A student who won a national scholarship of higher education shall not be excluded from study scholarships.
The application can be submitted using the Modulo application form from 5 June 2024 at 12.00 noon; the deadline for submission of the application is 5 July 2024 at 12.00 noon, as specified in the BBU’s call for applications.
