The list below contains the subscribed databases and ebook collections of the Budapest Business School what you can use for essays and thesis during your study. Most of them are available from computers in BUEB area or via VPN connection if you are staying at home or out of BUEB.

In addition to our subscribed content, we have also collected some extremely useful, free online resources and databases, which we also recommend for your attention!

From whatever sources you are using data, writing quotes from them or just read them as an idea, never forget to refer to them in your essays or thesis! ;)

  • Clarivate Analytics – Web of Science

The Web of Science is a bibliography database for searching for references and citations. It contains all the important journals, books, and conference proceedings from all scientific fields. It is primarily suitable for scientometric research and literature searches. 

  • Elsevier – Scopus

One of the most comprehensive bibliographical databases in the world, used primarily for citation searches. Its content covers all areas of science. It can be used to find citations to individual researchers and to determine the position of individual research groups and institutes in the international scientific world.

  • Emerald – EmeraldInsight – Emerald Premier

The database contains over 300 journals with full text availability, all published by Emerald. It primarily covers certain areas of economics, among other subjects. 

  • Springer Nature – Springer Journals (SpringerLink)

The Springer Nature publisher’s full-text multidisciplinary database which contains 9 million studies dating from 1997 to present day. The content is primarily prominent in the fields of engineering, natural sciences, and medicine, but social sciences and other fields of science are also represented.

  • UNWTO Elibrary

The World Tourism Organization’s database with tourism-related specialist books and statistical data.

Free online databases
  • Cambridge Core 

One of the best universities in the world, you can search among the latest publications in almost every field of science, be it economics, art or political science. Only Open Access studies can be viewed! 

  • CIA – The World Factbook  

It is recommended to use it primarily for country studies. It contains up-to-date and detailed information, especially constantly updated statistics about the countries of the world. 

  • DART-Europe - E-theses Portal  

The database provides broad access to over 1,000,000 PhD theses from 585 European universities. In addition to doctoral theses, we can also read their theses in many European languages. 

  • Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB) 

The DOAB database contains approximately 75,000 freely accessible e-books from almost every scientific field, linking to open access books from the largest scientific publishers. 

  • Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) 

The greatest value of the database is that we can search in 80 languages among the issues and articles of more than 20,000 quality journals in all fields of science. 

  • EconBIZ  

Books, articles and theses in the field of economics in German and English. 

  • Europeana 

The European Digital Library, which began operating in November 2008, aims to provide a common platform for accessing digitized documents from the countries of the European Union, and to make European cultural heritage accessible to its users free of charge, from anywhere and at any time. 

  • Eurostat 

We recommend using the electronic version of the free data set and publications of the Statistical Office of the European Union for all assignments and theses dealing with the European Union. The content of the database is available in three languages (English, German, French). In addition to the ready-made data tables, it is also possible to edit individual data tables. 

  • IMF eLibrary 

The database, which functions as the International Monetary Fund's electronic library, allows you to search the organization's publications and statistics. Its topics include finance, environmental management, sustainability, and individual industries. 

  • JSTOR 

The database covers every academic subject, which mainly contains various universities and publishers content (De Gruyter, Cornell University Press.)

  • Taylor and Francis  

All scientific fields are represented in the database, but articles on the subject of economy, environment, and sustainability are the most valuable.

  • Worldbank – Open Knowledge Repository 

An extraordinarily broad database on developing countries. 

  • WTO Documents  

Reports, statistics, videos, pictures and summaries from the fields of trade, globalization, logistics, environmental protection and many other topics. 

Self-built databases

The BORY is the repository system of the Budapest University of Economics and Business, which stores and indexes all the educational and research materials and digital documents which were created at our institute. It also ensures share and usage of these documents both on national and international levels.  

The BORY search engine can search simultaneously in the following archives of the BUEB repository system: BUEB Publications Archive, BUEB Dissertation Archive.

Database of publications, articles in journals and book excerpts that can be linked to the scientific and teaching activities of the institution, available in full-text format, and linked to the MTMT database. 

  • Dissertation archive  

BUEB Dissertation Archive 

Database of dissertations written at the university. It can be searched by author, title, department, programme and specialization. A large number of dissertations can only be read in the library on designated computers.
