Academic Year 2024-2025

The Faculty of Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism of Budapest Business University would like to support students who play an active role in scientific activities and plan to write a Students’ Research Societies project; therefore, the Faculty provides a scholarship with the following requirements:

  • All students at Budapest Business University, Faculty of Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism can apply. The applicant can be enrolled in either Bachelor’s, Master’s or Higher Educational Vocational Programme, can be studying in either English or Hungarian, must have an active status for 2023-2024 Spring and 2024-2025 Autumn semesters, and must not have any outstanding payments.
  • In the first round the student must present a 4-6 page (9 000 - 14 000 characters, without spaces) research plan, the results of which will be developed in the Students’ Research Societies project.
  • Before submitting the application, students must consult with a mentor or mentors, who will be their consultant or consultants1.
  • The application can be submitted either in Hungarian or in English.
  • The front page of the research plan contains only the name of the applicant student(s) and the title of the research, not the name of the chosen mentor(s).
  • Individual and team applications are both welcome, but in the case of a team application, the sum of money will be divided among the participants of the team. One team can consist of a maximum of 3 people,
  • Each applicant can submit only one paper, either individually or with a team.
  • Applicants have to officially state that:
  • they do not receive any other source of scholarship for this or any other topic, either from Budapest Business University or any other outside source at the time of application,
  • they will do research on the topic stated in the application, and will present their research project at the BGE Students’ Research Societies Conference in 2024-2025 Autumn semester, in line with their consultants’ consent and guidance,
  • they accept that paper may be submitted to the BGE Students’ Research Societies Conference only with the support of the supervisor(s), and after serious checking content and formal compliance, and also plagiarism,
  • they accept that in case they need to take a passive semester, have any outstanding payments, do not submit the paper by deadline, or do not present the paper at the conference, they will not receive the scholarship,
  • they accept that the amount of the grant will be determined after the submission of the paper and its presentation at the conference, on the basis of the results achieved at the conference and will be paid on the basis of a certificate of completion,
  • they accept that they will put the name of the consultant or consultants on the application paper as co-authors (unless the name of the consultant(s) cannot be published due to other provisions), and also the name of the university and the faculty (Budapest Business University, Faculty of Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism).
  • The second round is only open to those who have submitted a 4-6 page research project by the deadline.
  • The second round will start with the uploading of the Students’ Research Societies (TDK) resumes.

Applications will be considered from students who meet the above criteria and have submitted their application by the deadline (first round), uploaded their resumes (second round), submitted their paper for the BGE Students’ Research Societies conference and presented their research at the conference.

Scholarships will be awarded to students - irrespective of the section in which they participated - who will achieve first, second or third place, in any section of the university-level TDK conference in November 2024, and the authors of papers nominated for the National Students’ Research Societies Conference (OTDK) if they have not achieved a place in the given section. The amount of the scholarships will be determined according to the number of places obtained, but may not be less than 100,000 HUF. Students receiving a special award at the university-level conference will not be eligible for the scholarship!

The amount available for scholarship is HUF 5,000,000.

The submitted research paper’s title can differ from the title given in the application; however, the topic has to be the same. The research may have been preceded by a previous research, essay or written assignment; however, those should be broadened according to the formal requirements of the Students’ Research Societies paper.

The application has to contain the application form (completely filled and signed by both the student and the mentor) and its attachments, printed, sealed in an envelope, and handed in at the Dean’s Office (Alkotmány Street 9-11., Room 32) by 27 May 2024. Alternatively, it can be submitted electronically (signed and scanned with all documents or all documents with a confirmation letter/e-mail form the mentor) at the following email address:  dekani.hivatal.KVIK@uni-bge.hu

Applicants will receive a confirmation of receipt of their application by the deadline, as well as a short text evaluation.
