Information on the internship of students beginning there studies in 2020 or later

The educational and output requirements for the International business economics first-cycle (bachelor) programme are defined in Decree of the Minister of Human Resources.

1. Internship as defined in the programme curriculum

Non-institution-based internship assigned to the programme is worth 50 credits in total, whose completion is a precondition of obtaining a pre-degree certificate. The internship consists of three parts: Internship Modules A, B and C. Internship modules A and B consist of at least six or twelve-week continuous work experience and an additional minimum of thirteen weeks of experience (worth at least 20 credits) obtained abroad or in an international environment.

An application for recognizing internship on the basis of work experience may be submitted. In case of all three modules (Modules A, B, and C) the application must be submitted electronically via the Online Career Platform by uploading the necessary certificates and other documents. An application for recognizing Module C may be submitted via the Neptun system. The person in charge of the specialization is entitled to decide on the acceptance of the application. (For more information, see Section 10)

2. Term of internship

Internship A (SZGYABA10, 10 credits), 6 weeks (120 hours minimum)

Internship B (SZGYBBA10, 10 credits), 6 weeks (120 hours minimum)

The two internships may be completed separately or by way of continuous activities.

Internship C (SZGYCBA30, 30 credits), 13 weeks (240 hours minimum)

3. Subject-related requirements (requirement to start the internship)

The place of completing the internships according to the sample curriculum is the 7th and 8th semesters, but the internships can also be scheduled differently.

The start of Internship Module A and B is conditional on obtaining at least 54 credits.

Internship Module C may be started after the student has obtained 162 credits, which does not include the credits for Modules A and B (if these have been completed).

The relevant course of the subject “Internship” (SZGYABA10, SZGYBBA10, SZGYCBA30) (i.e. the course whose instructor is in charge of the specialization) must be taken up in Neptun for that semester in which the student completes the internship (if the student finishes the internship after the end of the semester, this subject must be taken up for and recognized in the next semester).

4. Place and purpose of completing the internship

Students are free to choose the place of their internship. The internship can be completed at any company or institution that performs activities associated with the nature of the training and where there are jobs already held that require higher education qualifications. The job to be held by the student is expected to familiarise the student with the international commerce, logistics, and financial aspects of the organization's business providing him/her the opportunity to apply and practice the skills acquired through the university programme.

The aim of the internship is to enable students to become conversant with the professional work at the host institution (organisation, company, public institution, non-governmental organisation) conducting activities that match their studies or special field, actively participate in the daily work, independently solve tasks assigned to them by their work supervisor and gain experience for their future employment on the labour market.

5. The possible forms of internship and the requirements of its completion

Attention! In order to enhance the internationalization of the study programmes, Of the three internship modules, at least 13 consecutive weeks (20 credits) of experience must be obtained abroad or in an international environment.

5.1  The possible forms of Internship Modules A and B are:

  • terms abroad (any terms spent abroad are considered as international experience and so they replace part of the internship; if the ECTS credits for the subjects completed during mobility reach 17, the internships coded SZGYABA10 and SZGYBBA10 can both be replaced);
  • internship completed abroad or in Hungary (if the latter takes place at a foreign company or at a Hungarian-owned company that (also) has international relations, it will be counted as experience gained in an international environment);
  • summer (internship) work performed abroad or in Hungary;
  • successful completion of a summer language course of at least 120 hours abroad;
  • participation in an international (foreign) workshop or conference held in a foreign language (if it reaches 120 hours including preparation time);
  • completion of international project work at or in cooperation with a partner university;
  • at least 120 hours of activity performed in an international student organization (e.g. YES, AIESEC) (as certified by the head of the organization);
  • attendance of an international professional course, with successful completion of the course (minimum number of contact hours: 20);

All necessary data is recorded in this system, and the Platform also generates the necessary documents.

URL of the Online Carreer Platform:
https://karrierplatform.uni-bge.hu/

6.2. First steps

In all cases, the administration process starts from the internship place.

The student must apply for the internship to register in the system. By definition, this must be done after the internship workplace has given its prior consent to accept the student as an intern.

In any case, the subject Internship (SZGYABA10, SZGYBBA10, SZGYCBA30) must be taken in the semester in the Neptun system by the end of the course registration period in which the course is to be completed.

6.3. Cooperation Agreement

The cooperation agreement will be concluded between the University and the place of internship via the online system. The agreement lays down the terms of the internship in the context of the labour law, as well as the rights and obligations of the parties in connection with the internship.

IMPORTANT:

If the continuous duration of the internship reaches six weeks, the student is entitled to remuneration, the amount of which is at least sixty-five percent of the mandatory minimum wage (minimum wage). The exact amount of remuneration must be recorded in the student employment contract, which is established between the internship site and the student.

The Agreement created through the online system must be printed in two copies by the partner institution, signed and stamped, and then one copy have to be sent to the Office for Academic Support. (1055 Budapest, Markó u. 29-31.)

•studyprogramme

The deadline for submitting the Declaration of Acceptance in the online system: no later than 3 weeks before the start of the internship

The student must then confirm that they really want to complete the internship at the given company, in the position and at the time indicated by the company. At the same time, the student must consent to provision by the University of their personal data to the place of internship for concluding a cooperation agreement and make a declaration that they are likely to meet the subject-related requirements by the start of the internship.

Students can log in to the system with their Neptun information.

6.6. Declaration of the Department in charge of the course

The person in charge of the specialization will decide whether the job/position is professionally suitable, and both the partner and the student will receive feedback on the decision in the online system (Departmental Declaration).

Deadline for submission of the Statement of Acceptance: no later than 2 weeks before the start of the internship.

6.7. Student Annex

The student annex is Annex No. 2 of the cooperation agreement, which contains the data of the student to be employed, the specific data related to the professional internship to be recorded by the professional internship site, and the specific data related to the professional internship to be recorded by the University.

The form must be created in the system for the practical location after the acceptance statement has been approved by the person in charge of the specialization.

All data on the form that appears is filled in and cannot be changed (since it has already gone through a multi-level approval process), except for the data of the internship supervisor.

6.8. Completion of the internship

The student completes the internship within the time interval recorded in the online system, under supervision of the instructor/professional supervisor determined by the place of internship. In case of any significant deviation from the terms and conditions of the cooperation agreement or any serious issue arising in the course of the internship, the student or the place of internship must notify the person in charge of the specialization.

6.9. Assessment of the internship

At the end of the exercise, there are three types of evaluations:

– The professional internship site fills out the Certification and evaluation form. In this, the student's performance is evaluated based on several aspects, in the form of a percentage.

– In case of completion of the Internship Modules A and B, the student prepares a 1-1 page report, which they attach in the Career Platform.

– In the case of completion of Internship Module C, the student prepares a 3-4 page report, which they attach in Career Platform.

– The student fills in the Student report, evaluation form, giving feedback to the University about his/her experience.

If at least 5 students have already completed an internship at the given company, the average of the student evaluations is displayed in the system, providing information to the students who apply later about their satisfaction with the internship.

The person in charge of the specialization evaluates the internship based on the aggregated value of the Certificate and Assessment of Internship form completed by the partner and a narrative report prepared by the student, and enters the student’s grade in Neptun.

Upload deadline: within 1 week following the last day of the internship.
